I can get lights, horn, indicators, ignition lights. But when you press the starter, nothing.I can touch the wire at the back of the starter button with the tester and it will turn over.Does this mean an earthing problem?????I really am trying but do not know what i am doing, any advice most wellcome.:doctor:

By tester do you mean a multimeter?
There should be two wires attached to the starter switch. If you have a multimeter, remove the wires from the terminals, and set the multimeter to measure resistance. Attach the probes to the terminals, and check the resistance chances from lots to nothing when you press the switch.
This will tell you if the problem is in the starter microswitch.
Let us know how that goes.

Sounds to me like you have corrosion on your starter contacts--aquick cleanup with 400 grit wet n dry should fix it

It was not a multi tester,it was one that lights up if there is current there. When it is earthed to the bike and you touch one of the wires at the back of the starter button the starter will turn over.It is bloody awefull being so electrically thick, but I do try and I will clean the terminals tomorrow.Thanks.

When you touch the wires, you are bypassing the starter switch. That it turns over shows that the switch is the problem. Hopefully a clean, as Frosty recommended, will sort it.
