Departing 10.30am

Summer is here, and its time for a:woohoo: 250 ride!:woohoo: We are going to meet at botony BP at 10am for a 10.30 sharp depart!:Punk:

The ride is out to the bay just around from kawakawa bay - kauiroa or somthing. It is about 170km round trip - 1 tank of gas.

All speeds are welcome, how ever dangerous riding is not. I want to organise this mainly for 250 riders and will stick to the speed limit and make sure no one gets left behind, however if you want to go fast your welcome, we will have the "fast as you want" group to go ahead and clear the cops for us, remember if you get caught hold up the cop as long as possiable so no one else can get a ticket ;):headbang::woohoo:

Anyone can come on the ride as long as your confident at 100km/hr and as for racers, more than welcome, just don't do anything stupid.

This is my first ride ive organised so feel free to ask any questions on how its going to be run - im sure to of forgotten somthing.

Can somone please confirm where the fish and chip shop is? Ive been there a few times but always for get the name.

I will post up a map of the route later on.

:headbang:Ride safe guys.:headbang:

Travelled that stretch of road last Sat and there has been considerable patch working done to it. Most of the loose gravel had been swept away but still a bit dodgie.

Should be alright if sticking to speed limits but conveniently many of these patches were just before corners i.e. when you're hard on the picks.

yes there was a tiny bit of gravel - road works finished along time ago and i didnt see any danger in it.

Remember this is a 250 cruise anyone who wants to go fast takes the responsability that goes with it.

I was out there last sat too. Was awesome.

My brother that works at Harrison Grierson has been talking to some one there about this ride? I'm not sure if i'll be up to standard to ride in formation etc...i still tend to use a lot of the lane when cornering...I will probably give this ride a miss for now, but keen to come out after my exams (so end of November)

riding in formation is for straights, if everyone is going through twisties you go single file and more spaced out otherwise you would screw up your line.

hey bro, I work with Greg, would be awesome if you could come along, it will help your riding heaps - get pointers etc etc, pace is going to be legal limit, and i'll make sure you don't get left behind etc.

also, let Greg ride your bike more often ;)

Probably my last ride in Aucks

Well probably will be my last ride (if I can make it). McJim will be in Invervegas setting up camp for the family before we go at the end of the month, he'll be back at the end to help box/container all our gear up and then hi-ho tonto away.

Mums coming up that week so hopefully she won't mind watching our fella's that day so I can have one final blast on the Frog before we leave Aucks. Ah now - here's hoping for awesome weather on the 13th!

Do you want him specfically not to come? I don't mind riding with him TBH, and he wou'd go in the "fast" group - i'd keep him away from the new riders.

hey ive a good idea, if u sell you bike and the guy wants to haggle on price say "i'll knock 200 off the price if you want the standed exhaust" then i will give you 200 for that sexy can you have :D :D :D :D

TEC is a very serious responsibility.

Qualities I look for in a TEC. (not in order)
1) sensible and responsible
2) patient
3) knows the route
4) first aid trained to some level (donor works for St Johns, hence why I use his nana-ness a lot)
5) Can keep a level head and act accordingly in an emergency.

When I organise a ride, TEC is not about being "the slowest rider", its about being the rider I trust to be first on the scene and hold things together if the unthinkable happens.

My 2 cents.

You seem to be taking your responsibilities very lightly. Remember , guardianship of a two smoker is a serious matter. "A two stroke is for life, not just a ride". You are but the guardian, your duty is to pass the two smoker on to the next generation. Remember, there will never be any more them.

along the straights to Waitak or up thru the windies to mangatangi and out to sh2 then??????

Yeah ended up going thru mangatangi on to SH2, missed the turn for Paparimu, which takes you back over the hunua and on to clevedon. Bit of a bummer coz sh2 and sh1 so boring.

from Auckland

Take the Southern Motorway (SH1) south

Take the 'Mt Wellington/Sylvia park' offramp, turn left onto South Eastern Highway.

Go past Sylvia park on the South Eastern Highway

Follow South Eastern Highway till you get to the end (T junction) turn right onto Ti Rakau Dr

Follow Ti Rakau Dr till you get to the end (T junction) here is the BP

So from the south, take the Manukau off ramp onto Gt south rd
turn right onth Gt South road and go along until you get to Cavendish
turn right onto Cavendish (first major intersection)

follow that for donkey's until you get to Ti Rakau, turn right, next intersection is the BP.

The "Previous 12-hr Precipitation Rate" is their prediction for rain in the ocean. They declassify them for the public once the model is 12 hours old. The times are all in GMT so you need to add 13 hours to get NZ time.

It's not 100% accurate but it's usually way more accurate than any other long range forecast.

I'm changing my name to retard. The first mistake I made was to think to stop for a friend who had also stopped, the second mistake was trying to end said stop on the verge of the road where it's just gravel on a 45 degree slope. My mind said "slowing, slowing, stopping, stopping, what?!!??!!! why am i on the ground?" Luckily the hornet came with oggy knobs and they worked a treat.

At least I assume you're talking about me, i didn't hear of any others falling. Luckily my bike is in such a state of disrepair that when the chain came off it was stretched enough to just wind straight back on.

Other than that, thanks to all for a cool day. That scenery is amazing along the coast line there.

Well that was an "interesting" ride, managed to get to the sh2 kaiaua intersecton when I got a puncture on the rear tyre. So Renegade Master, Indian Jones, Magua and I sat on the side of the road for about 2 and half hours for someone to turn up with a puncture repair kit, when Jafar turned up we spent a while trying to find the puncture and then sent Renegade over to the servo to pick up one of those canisters of liquid rubber. We managed to put the stuff into the tyre and got to the servo and spent a while waiting for it to set, after it had set we set off home. I was nanaaing it under 100 trying to keep the tyre from deflating, and managed to get home just now.
Thanks heaps to Indy, Renegade, Magua(i think thats you) and Jafar.
I owe your guys some beers.

the second mistake was trying to end said stop on the verge of the road where it's just gravel on a 45 degree slope.

Yeah that was the real mistake but shit happens eh.. Better a sub 5km/h drop to get it over and done with without any damage to rider or ride.

Thanks RM for getting us all off our butts and out there.

Best part of the day was the ride back with carbacca, babyblade, EJ, guy on ZXR, pyrocam, and that other dude (Sorry forgot your name, I rode with ya right till the end until I turned off on Mays Rd).

That was awesome. Especially EJ's wheelie, very impressive. I nearly went for a wee slide when I misjudged the corner, but I put my foot down and motocrossed my way out of it.

sweet ride yesterday guys :niceone:

was great to follow someone who knew the way out there (cheers Maverick) and also thanks to Carbacca and the others for the ride home and showing the other way round too!

It could of been fun with all five of us lined up near botany if that bike cop hadn't been sitting there. What with EJ the Scorpio stunt pilot trying out for Randy Campbells movie roles. The Scorpio dared me aye EJ ;) wonder if Randy eats caramel kit kats in his rocket car at 100kph

I enjoyed the ride :-P thanks for the bunch on the way back for not ditching me until the motorway...made me feel a little better about the speeds my bike does haha.

Anyone notice my L plate? it's been flicking up and rubbing on my back tyre so it has a massive tyre shape melted out of the plastic right up to the letter very nice :D

I might have to wait for a ride that has more GN's and Scorpio's on it before i venture out again...i end up stuck too far behind the main group to see them, and too far ahead of the tail end to see them either.... bah! i want a faster biiiiiiiike

Scorpio? Don't equalize Scorpios with GNs! lol
just kidding ;)

Hey, Thats how I felt about a month ago but after admitting that my bike is slow, the pressure just disappeared. Come on, they are same 250cc but V-Twins or more

Next time when thre is a ride, I'll ride with you (Gosh that sounds dodgy so I'll rephrase it) I will follow you

I too want to ride with more GN's and Scorpios and ofcourse the Mighty SRX  the father of Scorpio

P.S. There is a guy name "Twinkle" in KB, he is preety much a legend on GN250. There is a rumour that he caught up to a GSX-R600 K7 in the Waitakere Range! Don't under estimate GNs!

Hahaha I thought you were doing damn well on that GN and especially with stock tyres. Obstacle and I weren't ditching you because you were slow - we were stopping for gas at the Bombay BP then heading off in another direction.

Hehe I had exactly the same thing happen with my L plate. My mate at work thought I'd cut it out to fit. Wasn't long before it snapped off and I left it that way till I got my restricted.

Re the bunching, doesn't really matter what you do that can happen. Anything over 5 bikes and it's hard to keep in touch with cars and twisties and shit.

If you really want a faster bike mine will be up for sale in 6 weeks assuming I pass my full first go. Check out my profile pic :)
