Overnight 6-7 September 2007 there was burglary at a commercial premises in Invercargill, where a large quantity of motor cycle related equipment was taken. A conservative estimate at this stage is $20,000 - $30,000.

Information received indicates that this burglary may have connections to a local gang, two of whom were recently seen towing a trailer in the lower North Island.

The property taken includes:

Panniers
Neo back protectors
Motox goggles
Oxford panniers and bags
Yuasa batteries
large number of trousers and jackets (Nortech, Spool, Dri Rider and Motor Line)
quantity of expensive motor cycle oils (Belray, Maxima)
approx 100 pairs of motor cycle gloves (Storm, Speed, Oxford, Motox, Neo, Armourtech, Nortech)
56 motor cycle helmets (THH, FFM, Zeuss, Hjc, Shark, Airoh)
14 pairs of motor cycle boots (Terrain, Gaerne, Vcan, Moto, Forma)

If you are offered any items such as the above on the cheap, they are quite possibly stolen.

Any information can be directed to D/Sgt Dave NELSON, Invercargill Police.

Have forwarded to todd - see if we can get it in bikemart.

Any stuff like that ping it to me or todd@kiwrider.co.nz and we'll do our best to publish it.

They must systematically be doing the rounds, I have heard of a number of bike shops being done over, over a number of years now.

It just pops up every now and then, up and down, all over the country.

Bike shops must be easy pickings and probably not many cops etc really care too much.

I reckon if some one did a survey they might just find a pattern, maybe a culprit even! John.
