So whats good and whats not.....ive had a Tecknic one for years which has served me well, only complaints would be its a little short and keeps breaking the stitching that holds the adjuster for waistband.Tempted to go buy another but was interested in others opinions.

I got Quasi gear. The new range is out and they're pretty freakin' hot! Have a look at the site. Nah, I'm not on commission, it's just gear that I like so I recommend it.

What sort of jacket? lane splitting, racing, road racing or smokin in the livin room?
i've got cordura but will never wear it again seeing how it 'holds up'. I'm a bovine boy only now.
if it rains.. take the car

Went through the same thing a couple of month ago, ended up going for a Quasi leather jacket. It's well made, warm and comfortable and the price was pretty damn good too, very happy with it.

if it rains.. take the car yea thats the thing mate, most of my rides are long distance..well long as in from Oamaru to over the coast....both sides of the isle so usually its raining on one side, apart from a few trips over the pig-root with mates its all long distance stuff done pretty quick,i to love leather but hate wearing it heavy and wet and compared to Cordura it takes forever to dry out.

fair call; i tried the spidi h2out gear and after sending 2 lots back wont buy that shit again; although Finn wears his with gay pride.
if its not leather i cant help ya; Although saying that you can get the plastic over throws which i so often see Enigma51 wearing... subtle but effective

I got the Rapid Red. I would imagine that all the other jackets would be just as good.
You coming up for the Little River Rally this weekend? It would give you a chance to check it out...

I just bought another Spidi jacket - fits beautifully, lots of attention to detail - my last Spidi jacket lasted 7 years - one very bad accident as well. Get quality - it lasts and the fit is much better than the cheaper brands - I tried those on - no comparison. Paid $525 I think for it!! Also bought a new helmet!
Spidi caters for men as well so don't worry that you can't find a woman's one to fit!!

I am very happy with the service and the product from Kerrie at MSW. I got onto her thru recommendations on this site.
The downside is the two trips to Auckland it took to get sorted: one was a planned holiday, and the other on airpoints. Not cheap, but not expensive considering the product at the end. I cant buy off the rack (particularly for pants) so it was the only option for me. Last time I was in Sportzone they had A Stars kit in there which looked reasonable.
Oh, and I am also interested in ideas for a waterproof layer over leathers. Presumably somebody makes something. A great big goretex condom with arm and legholes would be about right.

Revit gear is now availilbe in NZ, Motomail in Auckland carry it, also Wellington Motorcyles and Anza in Palmerton North, not sure about the south Island though. Their Expidition jacket at $799 is an excellent jacket for NZ conditions.
Revits full catalog can be found at www.revit.nl
I have a pair of their Factor pants and find them excellent quality and fit.
Also one and two peice rain suits to fit over leather gear can be found at most bike shops for a modest price.

I have Spidi gear but have been underwhelmed at the wet weather protection. Now I'm replacing the Spidi H2Out with Goretex items as and when the money is available (or when I think my bankcard can handle it).
A while back somebody recommended this supplier:
http://www.dainese.be/en/contact/company/index.htm
I have been looking at their Goretex jackets with lust aforethought...
Hopefully to manage this before next winter comes, but currently have a pair of Sidi Goretex boots due to arrive yesterday which will kill the discretional spending budget for a week or two.
