I just got my learners licence, and have imported an aprilia rs250 from japan.
Its got heaps of power but so far I haven't ridden over about 80ks an hour as I'm just too scared to.
So has anyone got any tips for riding or maintaining my machine?

Maintanence tip: Good 2 stroke oil... Castrol TTS is a good choice...

Sigh! I would so much like one! Rebuild every 18k. Use the best oil and service on schedule. Do not skimp on costs!
Beware the power, it's NOT a learner bike, but a very fast racebikefor the road and will embarrass bigger bikes if you know how to ride it!
There are couple of KB'rs who own them and can give you tips. The motor is Suzuki, retuned by Aprillia.
Very reliable when looked after, has been known to seize at inopportune moments if thrashed for too long, just as any two-stroke will. But they will take a caning and come back for more if you look after them.
Not noted for their economy, you can't get big bike performance for small bike economy.
(I'm only a little bit jealous, honest!)

Everyone here seems to recommend TTS? You don't work for Castrol do you - why is it better than anything else?

I don't know how to ride it really yet. So I've been super cautious so far. Has anyone got any riding tips?

Check out www.apriliaforum.com well worth a look and the guys there know their stuff. Well the guys in the Falco & RSV forums do.
Be careful with that bike there mate! VERY careful! It aint no learner bike.
It has the potential to bite you in the arse very quickly. Im not saying you have made a bad choice, how could I! Just treat it with the respect it deserves and you will have a bloody good time with it.
I would love to add one of these to my collection.
Welcome to the crazy world of KB and Italian bkes!

Well, there was Castrol R2... but they slightly improved TTS and stopped making R2 :(
When I bought my RG150 (beginning of the year, but it's sold and the bike I replaced it with got confiscated), my friend (who I bought the bike off) recommended TTS or R2, especially R2, which I found to run better, and smell better (more 2-strokey, if that's possible)

That's one hell of a bike bro.
I am no Aprilla rider but I know two strokes are notorious!
Enjoy and hope to see you around on a ride sometime!

AMI were a rip off tried to rape me for about $800, swann insurance did it for around $250 although haven't got it right with me so not sure exactly, ended up going with them. State do my car insurance but wouldn't transfer no-claims bonus from that so that worked about 3 hundy and something in the end went with Swann,
