Thought I would reverse the "Things you hate about riding" thread and give it a positive spin. :innocent:
It is interesting, by asking yourself "What things do you enjoy about riding?" tell you a lot about your personality.
Basically I am a Bastard, (but I am comfortable with that).
This morning on the SH1 at Spaghetti Junction, bimbling along nicely in busy traffic. Some male turd in a black Holdem SS puts a 'spurt on' and burns past at excessive speed, wearing a nice cheesy grin. I fight the urge to open-up (just in case i'm being bated by the police) and bide my time. Very soon he has to brake and queue up like everyone else and I wave politely as I scoot by. That was a GOLD moment for me. :first:
What are your "Gold moments"?

Riding in summer, smelling the honeysuckle in the hedges, and feeling that deliciously refreshing drop in temperature when I ride through a shady hollow on a quiet country road.
A series of linked turns executed perfectly while 'in the zone'.
Accelerating out of a corner with the front wheel in the air.
The flat drone of a V4 (or v-twin) under deceleration.
The vifferbabe snuggling up behind me and giving me a big squeeze.
A friendly wave from a fellow biker.

The feel of the bike under me, the world around me, the warmth of the sun and the wind. Finding a piece of road that is empty for miles, with spectacular views and twisty bits that make you smile for hours. Knowing that I can do it all again tomorrow and the next day, and the next.

The wiggle of the bars as the front floats gently over crests and between corners.
SH22, the known yet unkown qualities of a road that changes every time you ride it, you know the corners so you relax and up the pace but know that around every bend is something..... keeping you on your toes and alert.

Just being out there doing it.
But toasting tin-tops is fun too.

I love sitting at the front of the queue at the lights where the Gt Nth Rd SH16 entry 270deg sweeper. I love seeing the sneer on the face of the red holden commodore driver on one side and the subaru WRX driver on the other as they rev their engines.
And I love hitting the start of the corner and not being to even see them in my mirrors anymore, and without even trying hard.
Childish I know.
But my all-time childish Gold moment was having some old idiot in a 911 turbo blip his throttle and laugh at me at a lights when I was on a 50cc scooter. And then to stall as I cruised away. And then to power past me a minute later accelerating to about 90ks in a 50 zone, and then brake frenziedly as he saw a cop car and I cruised by again.
Oh how I laughed.

Hmmm....
The swift swooping past cars mid corner as they drive down the 'slow vehicle lane' (Kaimais)
The simply awesome sound my bike makes above 9500 rpm.
People winding down their car window as I scream past so they can enjoy the noise! :2thumbsup
Diving into a corner and hanging on like shit as you tear down any chicken strips that were there...
A wave from any biker.

Been out on the bike on a nice afternoon midweek knowing I'm having a great time while all the other buggers are at work. Going through a set of twisties on the coast on a quiet day and been able to smell the water. Going up a 4x4 track and coming over the ridge to see a beaut veiw ahead.

stoppies, wheelies but most of all
letting the back wheel spin when fully cranked over!
Just love it.

I was driving down the Kaimais on Sunday, and thinking how long it was since I last rode a bike up/down there. In fact, I remember detouring out of my way, just so I could ride up and down the west side twice, just for the fun of it.
One of my favorite roads. :niceone:

Gold moments?
Its all gold when I'm on my bike...especially out of the city.
But in Jafa Central its outstandingly so when:
- Going past the cages on my way to work
- Going past cages on my way home from work
- Going past cages when there’s a jam
- Going to the front of a line of cages at the lights
- Going past a line of cages when a big cage at the front is going to slow

I LOVE seeing extortionately expensive cars stuck in traffic as I go by.
I'm always tempted to pull alongside and say "nice car......wrong city"

Try having to go up and down that side 10 times to scrub in your new tyres. :shifty:
Hard work indeed.... :woohoo:

The beautiful westport to nelson road, giving the engine a real workout on a cop free run (or should that be sprint?) where a few performance cages that try to play just get left wanting. You have such a good tussle with one that you pull up in a rest area for a quick break and to let him go past so you can go for a second round.

seein the spring lambs run in terror from my horribly noisy yammy exhaust [total piss take!]
having a panoramic view of the open road and all that surrounds.
kickin through autumn leavings and scattering them all over the road.
getting into the groove... even just for one corner where i forget to be scared witless.
seeing a hawk or two wheeling around.
rainbows in the mirror... with a blue sky in front!
coming over a crest and having the most awesome view spread out below.
seeing things you know cagers never will, no matter what it is. hawks, lambs, fields of daffodils, roadkill, airplanes doing tricks.
*sigh* im glad i bunked work and took the bike out instead.

Following Mrs Oakie through a set of twisties just a few metres behind her and we're both taking the same line, leaning in and accelerating away at the same time. Like sex on wheels

Weightlessness, if i see a small hump in the road i seem to gun it and get the bike airbourne - have done for years now.
Its not the best thing since i now ride over the 200kg bracket.

rhaa too many gold moments!!!
- Riding.
- Feel the wind, the speed, the freedom.
- Driving like a parisian biker (meaning riding quite fast between cars very close to each others and know how to throttle for few seconds to pass a car and slow down just after).
- Pass cars in general.
- Pass loudly and quickly cars belonging to fucking idiots teenagers/blokes/males in general, who saw the hair out of the helmet and try to play with me.
- Like the admirative look of girls and boys when they see a girl on a big bike :P (ok i know it is stupid but...proud hehe).
- Trackdays!!!!
- Feel that my line is good and the bike and me just one.
- Wheelies on the waterfront in Auckland on the pilions seat.
- Wave, feet outside, head signs to other bikers.
- Insult car drivers (especially when I forget that my visor is open and so is his window ) lol
