How about this then;
This guy called Saiki has made an electric dirt bike. Weighing less than 120 pounds. Because of the inherent properties of electric motors, the bike is faster than similar gas-powered ones.
The motor requires very little maintenance and uses no gas, oil or transmission fluids.
The bike sells around the same price of comparable 250cc bikes on the market.
A street version will come out in a few months. Could be worth looking at – is there life after petrol?
Saiki also helped create the first successful human-powered helicopter, unfortunately one of the test pilots got tired!!

Mmmmmm........my experience of dirt bikes has been a little more visceral. The noise is part of the deal. Nothing like standing in a trailride car park and listening to the sound of a CR500 being caned hard thru the forest (with a CRF450 in hot persuit)....magic.:Punk:

Being very very quiet would be useful for, say, nighttime urban trials practise :shifty:

I ride my road bike with the visor open a bit just to hear my bike.
I guess we could put something on that clicks on the spokes as you ride along.

Hmm, mountain bike. Another use for a very quiet dirtbike springs to mind. :innocent:
But I wouldn't be able to ride one, the seat it too high :weep:
