Right with the countdown to the big even underway and me crossing off the days of the calander. I have been considering how to get to hailton. After thinking long and hard about doing the 22 into hamilton i decided that the 365 odd km after hamilton is enough riding for 1 day. So i will be doing boring old sh1 i suppose and was wondering if anyone would like to join me???

we gotta be gassed up and ready in hamilton by like 9:30 i think so i was hoping to be in hamilton at 9 thus maybe meeting at auto bahn at say 9ish and look to leave at about 8:15. (I will be ridig with CK and his missus and he is noutoriuosly (spelling) late   so thoae are propsoed times)

Anyone want in. Might make the ride a bit more enjoyable :niceone:

I'll be going down SH22. Anyone up for that?

I think there are 2 main risks of going on SH1:

1) Going at 250 past a cop car. :Police:
2) Going at 100, then falling asleep and crashing.

:killingme :killingme :killingme :killingme :killingme . yeh but the advantages

1) don't have to leave frikken early
2) cut 60-80km off the ride (save petrol for those bum students like myself)

and if a person starts to nod off then hopefully there will be someone there to tap them on the shoulder  :killingme

Yep. I am keen on being at AB at 8 and leaving at 8:15, I assume that it'll only take 45mins to get there? @ 100km/h?

The fresh air (in lack of a screen) will keep me awake.... or I might bring an mp3 player....

Why aren't you going with the rest of us? :confused2 Bret's roads are awesome backroads as well! Come with the rest of the group man!

What bike does your old man ride? Is he fast? I was wanting to know how long does it take for someone like CK?

Thinking about leaving at 9 to do it in a record time and reach there in 1/2 hour... Not possible? Ok, back to reality. what time do you reckon is good? 7:45 or 8:00 departure? Some of the others might wana come down 22 as well so we should take extra time into account just in case.

I'm not sure which way I'll be going. My tyres are getting a little low on tread, the rear has worn kinda flat from all the commuting, so maybe I should take SH22 so that I spend more time leaned over and save the middle of the tire for later? I dunno if that'll work... ;)

Ok so this gal has realised cramming everything into one back pack aint gunna work! I have a friend who is coming along (if we can find a spare bed) so I can bring my hair dryer...makeup...ball gown...high heel glass slippers!

Since FF is chocker with Rum and KK wants 24 hours notice.....if anyone ones an extra wagon and somewhere to shove ya gear we need to find a bit of floor space. And I need support vehicle in case my poor wee butt starts to hurt he will take over riding of my wee cycle.

Regardless of that me and Posh will see you all at Autobahn Papakura at 8am...ish! I myself plan to head down boring ole SH1...22 will make the day way too long for me.

Woo hoo,

Just got information pack and not the excitment is brewing up...so much so that I must have tossed and turned most of the nite and consequently I slept through my alarm and got to work late.

Boss is sending daggers at me!

SH1 is looking like the best option for me, not keen to bin before even getting into the rally, so I'll be meeting the rest of you at the autobahn.

Now that I know bedding is provided I'll be able to actually fit some clothes in my tiny backpack and I'll get the sleeping bag off my bike.....hopefully ducktape has left any marks :)

Try to get some panniers or seat bag if you can instead of a backpack. I got myself a seat bag last week (RJay) from Motormail for $99, and its heaps more comfy riding without a backpack down and back SH22 I found. If u got some $$ to spare :)

cant believe that panniers don't fit on my bike :/
