....having your bike unavailable or having your bike available but not being able to use it as you'd like?

My poor old bike was, to put it politely in mixed company, "mechanically deficient" for most of the first half of this year. Now that it's finally risen pheonix-like from the ashes of my wallet I've figured out there is the grand total of one race meet and/or trackday the rest of this year where I can possibly fire it up in anger.....and the bastard is in Taupo which I've got no show of getting to, thanks to my prettier half needing the car at least half the weekend.

The ol' girl is a nice angry handful once again and I was looking forward to at least stretching her legs at the the trackday scheduled on the VMCC calendar on October 17.......but a check of the Kiwitrackdays calendar showed no such corresponding date...sure enough, it's been cancelled.

Don't get me wrong, I like riding on the road but I've always got that "What if...?" voice harping away inside my helmet that thankfully reduces in volume on the track. Not that I'm quick or anything, but knowing a corner is clear, with all combatants travelling in the same general direction, none of them accompanied by disco lights or herds of animals certainly liberates the throttle hand and adds to the general enjoyment.

Aaaaah fuggit, somehow a 15min squirt down to Lake Ferry for an afternoon bevvy just aint gonna cut it.......

Surely there is someone from down your way going to Taupo that could give you and your bike a lift?

I have 2 bikes that both run but some bright spark glued the reg/rec. and CDI to the subframe and I cant get the fuckers off to put the road trim back on.
The other needs a new chain and speedo cable to get a WOF and Ive exempt the rego for 12 months. I sit on my ratty in the shed and pretend to ride but it's not helping.:(

Don't forget to quickly wipe the spit off the inside your visor after making the engine noises, it's a bastard to get off once it dries.....

I've just checked the test day schedule at Manfeild and there's a test day (19th October) just before I come back to work so I'll probably try and plan something for that and just put up with the drifters dragging half the paddock onto the track.

// imo: not being able to ride due to no bike, especially when its in the shop because some stupid bitch decided it would look good with her Terrano parked on it.

There's a term we use in the computer industry that I think would apply:
