Arghhhhh the stupid honda dealer sold it to me

i suggest you take it back and ask for the proper one, any decent parts man should no that, or at least have the ngk book to tell them

a BR8ES or a b8es will do,

put the plug in, start it up, wait for the bang then go see the honda dealer about a new engine for free! :)

Yeah might ring em tomorrow i did measure it all up and the piston wont hit it but still dont like the idea of it being that extra couple of mil's closer to the piston.......................

I did think of putting it in and waiting for it to explode then getting a fresh engine lol

The reason he gave it to me is cause after i had them "tune it up" it now chews plugs in about 30mins..............Feel like throwing the damm bike through there shop window

sounds like a mint shop note to self dont go near honda shops down south

vr4king
2nd October 2007, 10:20
Yeah well went to another shop and asked there opinion.......DONT PUT IT IN

Now im just plain angry and i will try my best to NEVER go there again F*#KERS

Anyone got any suggestions on how to stop the plugs from fouling when its running its going fine for about an hour then they just foul up......

could be several things

1: are you riding like a complete bitch?
2: is your crank seal rooted / is your bike using trans oil
3: your jetting is likely incorrect, did they adjust this? unless you're running in abnormal conditions, return jets to standard settings then work from there.

4: what fuel / oil mix are you running?
5: what mixing oil are you running?

vr4king
2nd October 2007, 13:24
1.Nope i thought that but made consious effort to keep that sucker on the pipe but still fouled
2.Nope not using trans oil or smoking
3.Thats why i took to them to start with it was bogging bad it runs sweet now when it is running they said they made it slighty richer it doesnt bog anymore though so they did fix that problem

5. Castrol TTS

I have heard that the PJ carb on these bikes are terrible in the way they are setup for the idle circuit/choke knob, have read alot off yank forums saying just turn that knob down hard as it richens up things when set to idle

I think i found the problem.........Bike will run fine till it warms then dies if i let it sit 5mins it will start again im thinking coil is shagged

Is this a good guees?

B0000M
8th October 2007, 12:27
thats some bloody good thinking. stator windings usually

vr4king
8th October 2007, 13:18
Is that the same as the coil?.........If not what is required for repair?

B0000M
8th October 2007, 15:12
its the windings located in behind the flywheel, i had the same problem on my jetski, and a mate had the same problem on his XR, options are rewind, or replace as far as i know.

im not an expert on this topic, may pay to talk to your favourite bike shop or wait for someone who knows more here

If that is indeed your problem (& it sounds like it if the heat thing stops it then it starts again).

Bike shops in the know send em here;

So aside from the wrong plug being sold by the parts guy the bike shop probably did the best they could without the fault showing up. It may be a little rich now, but try it out & adjust the idle mixture screw as a starting point. Then ask the shop if they changed any jets.

vr4king
8th October 2007, 16:49
Yeah i was kinda humble towards the bike shop yesterday..........But that plug could have potentially destroyed my engine so im still not to happy about that

I have being keeping an eye on the plug it seems good i know they did put a richer pilot jet in it which is not a bad thing

Ordered a coil today so i guees ill find out if i need to get the thingymajigys rewound also
Im just happy i know where to start looking and now ive got a box of plugs to have as spares lol
Hope its not the cdi unit they a bit harder to track down

Thanks for all the suggestions and help

I had the same problem with my bike a while ago. Fouling a lot of plugs and also starting 5-10mins after sitting there.

I took the carb apart and Linton from Dirt Action Services in cc confirmed that the jetting was all set correctly for the riding I was doing. But the float level in the carb was off, so I tweaked that to standard settings. Since then I haven't fouled a plug even with idling for a long time. And the bike pulls very cleanly through the range.

It's very easy to do and might work for you, also have a look here: http://www.mxboards.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=26fc43a8318f33afc306afc4897a811c
