So this is a wierd one to test the best of you.

1994 CBR 600F. Loses power once you get up to speed (usually about 100) or anything above 2nd gear.

It coughs and splutters like its out of gas, and if you hold the throttle open may pickup and go before bogging again.

Original suspicions were fuelling. Cleaned and stripped carbs, Sweet. Fuel tap and pump are functional.

Changed the ignitor for another working one. Sweet.

Regulator/rectifier looks much newer than the bike, and looks ok.

It goes nuts and wheelies in first and sometimes pulls right through to second, but doesnt hold speed (even 50kph)

Westie reckons its electrical - something about the engine not getting enough current when under load - would make sense as I had the rear wheel going over 200kph when on the center stand.

Fynn come on here and explain better :D

Any help and ideas would be appreciated guys!

Take it your friendly motorcycle mechanic, and get him to test your electrics.

It does sound as if something is breking down under load, or possibly when the engine is hot. Altenator, perhaps. Also check your battery to make sure it's carrying sufficient charge.

It seems to be related(or relative) to the function of the throttle and certain gears. But only in third gear or the top of second gear onwards.

When throttled on in third gear the engine dies. Let the throttle off and it comes to life again, however only idle.
I'm not impying it has anything to do with the carbs.

Very wierd
