Hey guys. i'm fairly new from good old cApe Town, South Africa. I'd love to start hanging out & checking out the scene here. Must still get my bike, but working on that. Any advise for one like me - where to hang out, what to do. Cheers

HEY! fellow Saffy! ^_^ *hugs and balloons*

well... I'm not the best to ask about what's good to do in auckland (not a big fan of living here at the moment) buuuut...

if you're a museum type, i'd reccomend it... umm, the zoo.. well, you don't have to go there... it's not very fantastical... (in so many ways.. )

err... definately try to go to the thursday night ride and pub outing once you get your bike,. great people, great people. (its at bar Africa on the north shore)

aaand... umm... go to Mt Eden, North Head, and One Tree Hill (now none tree hill)

oh.. and beaches, most are pretty poopy when you're used to the awesomeness of SA beaches... but go to piha, muriwai (sp??), Omaha... and thewre was another one.. I cant remember the name.. i think it starts with K...

Mt Eden summit is the EASIEST and the MOST place to visit in Auckland (IMO ofcourse:))

Ride down to St Hellers bay from City Central, it's fun too :)

Oh, come and join us Auckland Wednesday Night Ride :) it's on EVERY Wednesday

Meet us at Shell Westgate 6:30pm. If you need escort, then send a Private Message to me

The canonical good Auckland pub is Galbraiths, at the corner of Mt Eden Rd and Symonds St.

Other than that, you can meet KBers on Thursday nights at Bar Africa in Albany following the Auckland Thursday Night Ride (see thread in Meetings and Events forum).

And the Crow Bar in Wyndham Street is still the best place to go in town for cocktails and civilised noise levels before midnight...

Psst! I'll tell you a secret... you can even go straight to the pub without going on the ride first! You can also go to the pub without even owning a bike!

So yeah, head to the Africa (in Albany) on a Thursday night and meet some bikers. They're the ones with leathers and helmets. The ones dressed in leather without helmets or bikes are a different story.
