Who's getting excited????

Only THREE SLEEPS to go & I'll be hopping on a plane & heading to Phillip Island for the first time.

Only TWO SLEEPS to go until I tell The Man that we're hopping on a plane & going to Phillip Island.

Come to think of it, there might not be all that much sleep happening on Friday night, what with packing & excitement & having to leave at 2am, so it's actually more like TWO POINT TWO FIVE SLEEPS until we leave. :D :D :D :D :D

Had a bit of a heart stopper yesterday though. My mobile beeped to tell me there was another voice message on my home phone. It's the campervan place saying to call him urgently. Hmmm. Wait until Wednesday & call from work for free, or take the hit for the international call fee on my mobile during peak time?!?!? I called him. :mobile:

Turns out that 4 of their campervans were travelling in convoy & were involved in an accident of the nose-to-tail variety & all 4 vans had been written off! OMG! :gob: :crybaby:

He gave me the number for Maui/Britz & I called them straight away, also from my mobile during peak hour. Ouch. They've got a van for me and it was immediately booked & deposit paid. Phew. It's 5 day minimum rental instead of 3 day min, plus it's about A$30 a day dearer, but I booked it anyway. :buggerd:

Then breathed a sigh of relief. 30mins of stress is hard on a girl you know! :calm:

It's still mostly a surprise, although The Man is strongly hoping for a trip to P.I. for the MotoGP, he won't know for sure until Friday.

He wouldn't have known anything was up at all, except that his passport had expired in 2001!!!!!! :gob:

Even if he has guessed the destination, there is no way he will know that his best mate (like brothers), who he hasn't seen in 3 years, will be joining us at Melbourne airport from Tasmania for the weekend. :sneaky2:

You guys are soooo lucky!!! I'd love to see Rossi and co in action. My missus would be dead keen on the trip too but I can't justify the expense when we are suppose to be saving for a house (especially when I keep skimming funds for racing stuff too!!).

Phew glad I didn't let the cat out of the bag when I saw Craig at Puke the other weekend! I was thinking you must've told him by now but thought I better play it safe just in case!

Tell Craig he better take lots of pics for us less-fortunate to drool over too!!!!

That's so kewl, Slim! Did you arrange all this for him?
Yup.

About a month ago I decided to see if I could get some free flights for us both on my Qantas Frequent Flyer points. No joy on their website, so I called & they found me a return, & The Man a single, free flights. With the main cost out of the way, it was all on.

I arranged for him to have a day or two off with his boss, my boss said cool too (and he's jealous as! Plus he's loaning me his digital camera, so I'll be buying him a t-shirt as a thank you), then it was GP Tickets on line, sort out the camper (see above) and the campsite.

I spoke to the friend in Tazzie while trying to find another friend in the Melbourne area (away on holiday while we're there) and another mutual friend here in NZ put the thought in the Tasmanian's head to join us for the racing ... and he is. :D

It's not too late, even now, FS! :sly:

Blakamin - I reckon seeing the look on The Man's face when his best mate meets us at Melbourne Airport is going to be the best bit of the whole weekend. :)

Note the time: I'm so excited I can't sleep so decided to log on to KB! We fly out at 7.45 this morning.

Slim: it's my first time too. Jeez, what a panic about the campervan! We've got a Maui one too. We're booked in to the A'Maze'n things (or something like that!) camping ground, I think it's about halfway between Cowes and the track. I've got your number, so I'll call you during Saturday to let you know what's happening Sat night - I presume we'll meet down by the wharf again - according to those who've been before, that's apparently the place to be! Craig will be blown away - it's really neat what you've done - he's a lucky guy! PS: I presume my "roaming" will work over in Oz, I've set it all up, I just have to remember do I dial 0064 beforehand or not? (I've got the website printed out to take with me so I should be fine.)

Wari: we're meeting at Cowes, down by the wharf, around 7.30pm on Friday night - would be neat to meet you. I'll have either my KB t-shirt or KB sweatshirt on (depending on the weather!) - there should be a few of us there, do come and find us!

I had major problems getting to sleep yesterday! :eek5:

Down to 1.25 sleeps, and still wondering if he's going to come over to mine tomorrow after work (ideal as it's only a 1.5 hour drive to Auckland from here) or if I'm going to have to pack tonight & head over to his after I finish work tomorrow after conning the boss into letting me leave early (it's probably closer to 3 hours drive from his place, which would be a bummer).

The Boss has just given me his digital camera today, and all the paperwork is sorted out & printed in duplicate, so besides packing & springing the surprise, I'm all ready to go. :D

I have several sisters but they're all married, and no amount of bribery is going to work on me. Sorry Tony. ;)

PS. I've e-mailed Juan about his t-shirts.
