Hey there!!

I am just wondering about the mentor programme... I was very interested in having an experienced sport rider to shadow for a bit.... I dont know what I need to do to be so lucky to have one....

I am not a tottal newbie.. just need to get fed the right things before I start creating new bad habbits.

Very interested in the taupo track day also

Cheers

Hi Andrew, great to have you in KB!!

There is a mentor programme on KB, just be careful who you choose - but wait, there's MORE!

You'll note there are two regular weekly occasions when we get together, Sunday morning (Rimutex) (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=48572) and Wednesday at 6 for 6.30pm (Kennedy Good Bridge duckpond) (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=57104).

Both of those have "Cruisy" in their titles for a very good reason. The Wednesday night ride in particular was specifically created for new riders, uncertain riders and riders of low-powered bikes.

There's a large number of senior riders there who love to mentor on those rides. The catch-phrase for them is that everyone "rides at their own pace". We travel slowly, stop often and talk about lines and hazards and the cool bits as well.

Having said all of that tonight is the first official Wednesday ride of the summer season and look at the weather!!! The group decides when they assemble where to go and already the suggestion of Haywards, Grays Rd and a pub/cafe sounds typical of what will transpire.
