Some Wellington scumbag knocked my bike over!!!!

Ok maybe it was the wind but it would take a lot to blow over my FJ1100

It was parked outside Wellington Midas along Thorndon Quay.......
in the bike park....


I parked up about 8.30 on the side stand and when i finished work @ 6 pm it was on its center stand and there was some damage to it.

Accelerator, rear brake pedal, muffler is dent, looks like some damage to the engine next to the brake pedal, right front indicator damaged and scraped fairing....................

I am hoping someone here may have seen what happened......if any one knows PM me please?

From the experience of someone in Auckland, she went into all the buildings from where her bike was stolen and found a lady who had seen it all and even wrote down the number of the van! Knocking over an FJ and having a couple of people pick it up again won't have gone unnoticed.

Having said that it was windy today ... is it possible to blow down such a heavy bike? Might be if the slope of the ground didn't apply enough lean.

It was gusting 60 knots (110kms) today out in the harbour.... where I was. And that was PLENTY windy enough to blow a bike over even parked on the sidestand.
We cancelled our sailings of course, it was nuts out there.

Could have been a lighter bike blow over and take yours with it...they can go down like Dominos.

commiserations re the damage, hell 110km winds! good on ya for braving those conditions!. i would go see the nearby businesses, someone must have seen something.

Just spoke to a friend in tawa who is a dairy farmer, seems it was so windy there today that one of his cows had the same calf 3 times!

yep we had scooter dominos in the car park here at work,only scooters mind bikes were fine.

Thanks, i am asking around, someone must have seen it even if it was the wind.

The Midas guys were parking their customer cars there before i started using it.....and still are around the bike.....


Luckily i now can park it in the basement at work so it wont happen again whatever it was............

Bad luck. Hope if it wasn't an act of a vengeful god that you find out who is responsible. Would seem either that:
1) wind blew it over and good samiterans picked it up and put it on centrestand to prevent more misfortune
2) someone knocked it over - by why go to effort of putting on CS not side? Maybe they were familiar with bikes? Noobs and non-bikers find CSs pretty difficult as there is a real knack to it.
3) someone knocked it over; someone else picked it up

I know it is a pain, but I put my bike on the centrestand, always. It just seems so much safer that way for the extra 10 seconds it takes.

My wifes scooter got turned 180 degrees and knocked over by the wind today. I was working and finished early because the windspeed was to high, was going to pick the wifes scooter up as I knew it was going to be knocked down. Oh well.

Up at Vic uni there were about 5 bikes on their sides yesterday. even a big 1000cc Ducati. so it possibly could have been the wind and some kind citizen propped it back up again as i did for the poor Ducati owner.

sorry to hear about your bike mate, 90s makes a good point about noobs using centre stands, especially with the weight of a fekkin '84 FJ1100 - that thing must be at least 220kg dry?
