God I hate those damn flags! It's pointless and annoying. If they had other nation's flags available too it would be cool, you could see who supported who, but just the Silver Fern? Pointlessly patriotic. The main people I see with them on their cars are foreign taxi drivers, who seem to have a need to demonstrate how much they love NZ.

It's not at all 'patriotic'.
LilSel's tattoo of a silver fern is patriotic. Those flags are just cynical exploitation.
Do people not even notice the credit card company logo on the flag? Is it that subliminal?
The unwashed brainless masses are driving around happily acting as billboards for MasterCard. Why do you think they give the flags out free at service stations?
Somewhere, an advertising executive is sitting in his leather chair, giggling uncontrollably as he sips his latte.

I can't see the problem with supporting your national side in a tournament with one of these clip-on flags so long as it's attached safely (and preferably only contains the countries flag and not corporate sponsorship, but whatever).
I don't like Rugby or cricket but would still like my country to win if they're playing in these world cups.
You should see those Euro and South American countries during the football (soccer) world cup - it's a case of spot the car that doesn't have one.

The FA Cup final gets 484 million. Bear in mind this is a single country club level soccer tournament.
I think the main reason the Womens Soccer world cup final gets so many viewers is the majority are waiting for the 2 sets of teams to exchange shirts at the end of the game :)
