Wondered how long it would take them to arrest her.

Im sure that the cops would have wanted to arrest her right then, right there - remember that they are mums and dads as well and having actually seen the body and the abuse in person they are probably more revolted than we are.
Im just glad that they took there time so they can be assured of a conviction.
I hope that the other mongrels in that pack of a family go down as well - hopefully for murder. They can share a cell with the scum Kahui.

It wont bring Nia back but hopefully this monster will get what she deserves.
I do not think there will be any sympathetic Jurors in this case.

My view (not shared by all) - is that this is the kind of case that gives good argument for bringing back hanging.

+1 from me as well... the death sentence should still be an option in cases where death has occured, and been found to have been caused deliberatly. accidental death, no death sentence, but the case of a person beaten and tourtured, kill em.

Terrible times we live in!
No mother could have ignored the damage to that innocent child. It will have been obvious to anyone that she had been the victim of abuse.
Sad..very, very sad

Manslaughter?
Wikipedia:
Manslaughter is the legal term for the killing of a human in a manner considered by law as less culpable than murder.
Keyword culpable. How was she less?

Given that two others have been charged with murder in relation to this case, and that she hasn't been charged as an accessory to murder, draw your own conclusions.

Thanks Hitch. I hadn't read the the article I admit :spanking: Granted the manslaughter charge is valid. I'm ashamed as a NZer to admit it but news articles like this have stopped grabbin my attention so to speak.

Child abuse / murder seems very prevalent. Has it increased in NZ since the '70s or is it just the press focusing on the bad? Certainly the news coming out of NZ makes pretty grim reading.
