I am a noob and thinking to buy a bike.

Honestly I am not a rich guy who can afford to buy a GT250R or a GPX250.
Im only 17 years old who would like to get on two wheels rather on four.

I am looking towards a Yamaha Scorpio Z or a used Suzuki FXR150.

And my other option is the Lifan LF125 motorbike which looks quite cool but not well known.

So what do you guys think? what bike should i go for?
Price range is around 3000 to 4000 max.

Please help :(

Ahaha how noob I was! :D:D:D (Still is  )

Hello people, I'm new to this whole biking thing, but I'm hooked! So far I've only been on the back of my boyfriend's bike but I will be keen to get my own bike before too long. I need to plan what to get, save up, and start learning to ride. I'm planning to get professional lessons rather than let the b/f teach me. I reckon it will be less stressful for everyone that way.

So far the b/f has done his best to lose me off the back but I have always managed to stay put. I just wish he had a pillion seat with a bit more padding.

Since then I've learned to ride, bought by own bike, been knocked off it, fixed it up and riding again. I still like being on the back though! (And he still needs more padding on his pillion seat.)

howdy fellow kiwi riders

just got recommended the site by Crashe, had a quick look around, looks like a great place...never seen so many new zealand riders in one place! LOL.

spent 6 months last year in canada, developing my love of cleaning and passion for the life of an old lady. ive been with glenn [hounddog] for coming on 10 months, and through him i connected with a great number of bikers in central ontario, who dubbed me "kiwi"

i passed the skills test for my learners this morning, and hopefully going for the written by friday. i used dads suzuki gn250, which will be mine once i get the license. first thing ill be doing is ride out to the cemetary to see a friend who ive yet to visit.

looking forward to getting know more of you in the future.

Not very exciting at all...

28 September 2004
I've been riding for 6 years and am on *my* first bike. I started on a pink ZZR250, moved onto my mother's 600 Bandit, then onto daddio's VN1500, then FINALLY bought my very own VTR1000 in Aug 02.
Oooh - forgot to add that I also own a yellow (2004) GSXR600

How many people are interesting in going to the track day on the 26th i might look at coming to auckland for this, i been to a couple of track days at taupo, but none at puke.

Also never taken the 1100 around a race track yet, wouldn't mind taking it for a blast, also thinking fridays should have to worry about to many people there

My very first post..... If someone had told me back then that my life was about to change forever when I got my bike licence, I dont think I would have believed them! Im so glad I did though! :D

But I don't know where to begin?! One of my mates told me about this site and suggested that I get the info I need from here.

So here goes . . . .
I've only ever been a pillion and my first ride was over the Rimutakas on a 1000cc, it was one of the scariest things i had ever done at the time, but have really come to love it!
The only thing now is that I broke up with my partner who owned the bike and havent been on a bike since
What im wanting to know is, is there anywhere in Wellington that will let me "hire" a bike so that i can get my confidence up to get my "handling certificate"? Also should I go for a 250cc or smaller?!! HELP PLEASE?!! Bearing in mind that I really haven't got much fof a clue! :D

Actually, I was lying.
I remember now - Toaster's post reminded me.

I used to have a VTR1000, and was on several overseas forums. At the time Dodgy Darryl also had one (in-between Moto Guzzis??), and he saw me on one of the forums and sent me KB way. My firstest post was asking about braided brake lines, after buying a set of BSR Aerotek lines on TardMe and being told they were illegal.

250 is fun I gotta say, even though I only wound up to it 2x.

Awesome fun, lots of ruber gone from the back end and I have killed/cooked my rear brakes, but all in a good cause. I get to play with spanners and get out there again next time!

I was in Motorad today and I spotted your bike, for a high side crash it's got bugger all damage.
What are you planing to do with the bike?

It's a shame you can't get crash bungs for riders!!!

And here's the first thread that I started:

Does anyone know if the Coast to Coast ride still happens? It's run between Himatangi to Herbertville with a stop off in Woodville. It use to be in early December but I don't know if it still happens. Anybody?

It's coming up to my 4 year anniversary of KBer membership.

Hang on now, your all being stupid
Sorry to those of you who arent but i just noticed a few things and id thought i better set things right.

a) i had 1 accident off road at about 10K, into a tree - since then i have always worn a GOOD helmet. If u have a $20 head buy a $20 helmet

b) Those super funny looking bight leathers do a job, they make you get SEEN!!!
6 months ago, after completely fixing up my cafe' Racer single, i was takin out (i was doing 30K, he T'd me at about 20k) on my way into uni but someone who didnt SEE ME!!! I can no longer run anymore than about 100m without collapsing in pain cos i have a titanium rod holding my shattered tibia together. There is nothing they can do with my nerve damage though. So all of you who thinks its a bad idea can bite me

c) I dont care if they ride a scooter or a Harley - if you do more than about 5ks you need protective gear - cos when someone takes you out it doesn matter a fudge wot speed you were doing.
first impressions aye

Hi all. My partner in crime - stifarms - suggested I say hello :spudwave:
Even though I don't actually have a L plate yet, I do have half shares in the Honda....although he will debate this until the cows come home!!
Initially I thought it would be okay to just tag on the back, but after that beautiful day when he went on a noob run, I was sooooo jealous that we decided we had better work towards being a two bike family.
First things first - the licence, and then the "what bike". I am angling for a ducati or motoguzzi, but not sure what my chances are.....we'll see aye!

Over and out.
