basically
watch this:

higher quality animation: http://www.procreo.jp/labo/labo13.html

is it spinning clockwise?
then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Its possible to change. It is a bit of a mind blower when you do so.

haha freaky,
Im clockwise to start off with, but if scroll the page up so i can just see the top of her head I can change direction to anti-clock wise. Must mean that Im just extra mixed up :)

Added: now thats cool, if I concentrate and read the text above her, she whips around anti-clockwise, but when I just look at her she goes back to clockwise. woho this could keep me entertained for sometime

bah, sorry, I did a search but it didnt turn up anything, calling repost on a thread that didnt have a fair amount of relevant search terms is tricky one.
I only looked a certain way back cos the news article was only posted on friday. oh well.

here ill make up for it

Started off as most definitely ONLY clockwise. Then I noticed the reflection of her feet and now I can only see anti clockwise

All I can see is one nice tit. Spose I'm crosseyed. Pehaps I don't use my brain at all.

nice.......I'm totally anticlockwise unless I'm looking at something about 50 cm away.
headfuck.

cheers.

She swaps all over the place for me, back and forth but that is not surprising because I have done many of these tests before.

They have always come out as "center" brained.

That means I use both sides of my brain equally, neither is dominant!

(lol) The guys at work used to say my brain was "dead in the centre".

When I read the explanatory text, (at work) some of it was not at all flattering  but the rest was quite complementary though! John.

 does this mean i'm going to be like you when I get to your age John or is it to late

I'm more like Oldfulla - normally clockwise but if I focus on the text above or below she changes direction. I can now look at her once she's moving anticlockwise for a reasonable length of time but then she'll suddenly reverse direction.

Funny thing is: They say right brain for clockwise but as I'm right handed (controlled by left brain) I'd've expected her to move anticlockwise.

its not spinning clockwise or anticlock wise as its spining about its Y axis. and clocks are on the wall man.

terbang

Is that clockwise when viewed from the top or from the bottom (now that would be fun)?

Crowdog

Clockwise to start with but i found buy looking at her lower foot i was able to control wich direction shes spinning

Clockwise, clockwise and clockwise. No matter how I look at it or how hard I try - clockwise. Can we have the picture with the lights on?

Is it relevevant that the article says most will see it anticlockwise yet at this point on KB it is 2:1 clockwise??

Freaky... was convinced for a second there that the animation actually reversed.

It's about symmetry - you can not tell if she's facing towards or away from you since it's just a silloutte. Very nicely done. Although I'd personally argue that's she's rotating around her z-axis, after all x and y defines the horisontal plane (although not in electromagnetics).

Seems she's slightly cold though. :)

This sucks!!!! When I first looked she was going anti-clockwise so I voted, then when I looked again she is going both ways intermittently...What does that mean?

jrandom
11th October 2007, 13:36
This was posted a while back, but as an optical illusion with the comment that if you look at it for a while, it changes direction.

Which it does.

I suspect that it doesn't have much to do with the left or right side of one's brain.

I've no idea what you turkeys are on about. There is no movement at all - it is a fixed image. :bash:

Just for the sake of argument, lets pretend the silhoutte appears to be a back view or a front view depending upon your brains interpretation. Is that what this is all about?? I can see both although initially it looked like a back view.

As for clockwise etc, from what point of view? Overhead?

try looking at the feet. or if that doesn't work. use paper or your hands to cover up everything but the leg. start at foot and imagine what it would look like going the other way. when it looks like it is, take paper away
