Hey people

I'm considering buying some wheels to motard a KTM. There's a set up for sale on TM at the mo but the rear wheel is an 18 inch. Is it a bitch and more expensive to get your favorite sport /road tyres for an 18inch compared to a 17inch? Cheers.

Not so common as 17", but not as bad as 16". Avon does most of their sporty stuff in 18" (or at least the size for my bike, the guy tried to upsell me to some super-sticky stuff), but sometimes they have to order them in, instead of having them out the back.

Wouldn't worry about it too much.

i'm sure i've talked to you about this already, and know you've lined up that other set of wheels, but the vfr has an 18 and tyres aren't too hard to find.

the front, however, is another story, and both dirt rims will be set for narrower tyres than what you may want.

see you at strata on friday?

18 inchers can be tricky but I have been using the Bridgestone BT045 for some time, dual compound, get well and truly sticky when warmed up......but I am an old bastard on an old bike...........

I have always managed to get decent rubber for my NC which has a 18inch rear.

spoke, but it'll have a disc brake, and may have different hub dimensions, so you might want to take some measurements.... something tells me an european ktm 550cc may be a little different from a jap honda 250cc (and then there may be an age difference)

how buggered is the current rim?
