Lost a handle bar end (throttle side) last weekend from my 2006 GSF 1200. Must have come unscrewed.
Anyone know where i can get some aftermarket replacement antivibration weights heavy as, or heaver than, original? Genuine parts are $70 each and aftermarkets, though half the price, the Zuki shop tells me are too light.

There are heaps of aftermarket decorative, anodized ones available from $20.
I have the right hand side one not fitted due to heat grips, and I don't even notice it missing.

Couldn't see if an engineer will lop off a bit of stainless rod for you and put a hole through so it bolts on? You'll be able to choose the weight and should be less than $70! Yeah, or there are ones I've seen around for $25-$35 but up here, not in Dunedin.

Ooooh! I'm having Renthal Streetfighter bars put on mine at the moment. Those last ones would go down a treat! KB discount? Free postage or something? :msn-wink:

They recon they won't need weights cos the bars are nice but coming from BMX'ing I don't like thinking abount what the ends of bars do in a bin, blimmin' cookie cutters!

Nah Pancakes, you don't need big hunks of metal on the end, unless you find the bars buzz a lot -- which being a V-twin, it shouldn't. Fours are different.

Just get those little rubber end caps to plug the holes. Looks much neater, and less width for splitting. Alternatively, nobody ever said no to a pair of bar-end mirrors.

Your at the Scots end of the country - be like a Scotsman, be thrrrifty!

Use those chrome covers off old taps, drill a big hold into a block of wood, stand the tap covers big end upwards in the holes with the little hole blocked, melt some lead and pour it into the chrome covers (get somebody else to if you can't) and drill a hole through from end to end to bolt the weights on.

Then bolt the suckers on - tah dah!!

Been there, done that - lost one off my K2 and they used to loosen off on the K6 as well. Always checked them before a big ride...

Say NO! to bar end mirrors! I recon they look funny, but the standard mirrors on my bike actually look ok AND you can see whats behind you simply by looking in them! Makes all the sprotsbike rider jealous!

But yeah, splitting with (turn a blind eye Scummy) is pretty important to me too since the bike is a commuting tool.

Gee thanks SD- sort of explains the the apparent plumbing attachments affixed to Harleys! The DIY option went with the farm. I only managed to get approval for a bike-i'm still working on the garage!

And what ever you get get a tube of glue that you use to hold rubber bar grips in place and glue the bastard in place.

I lost two off my 600 bandit.

Cheers 4 that NH and thanks SANX for the website, a great source of goodies there. Yeah, good advice Pumba, unfortunately in hindsight.

Yeah your bike looks nice but looking down that far for mirrors seems weird, I've never tried it so yeah. Just my impression.

Mine are big and rectangular, they frame my arm going down and along and give a clear view of the lane behind and the one beside.

see the pic... It was 'movember ok, leave my face alone!

Your bar end weight isn't an uncommon type. Why not just grab a second hand one up off of a wrecker
