OK folks, the documentary "Love speed and loss" is screening on TV again!:2thumbsup
Sunday 14th October, 12.30pm on TV3.
The documentary is about New Zealander, Kim Newcombe and his rise to the European Grand Prix podium.
An absolutely amazing film. Emotional throughout and something that any biker (racer or not) will probably enjoy seeing.
If you are out riding - set your video timer!
P.s. If you want to see a damn remarkable documentary on real lunatics, watch "Cheating death: Tuna Cowboys" on tv1 (starts at noon).
SERIOUSLY BIG BALLS. (wrestling with sharks/nature/diving...)

Sure was good to watch again. Really is quite sad though.
Isnt it strange how we have so many of these stories.. your Burt Munroe/Kim Newcombe/John Britten types in NZ.
It is kinda strange.
That was one hell of a good doco. As much as anything its quite an insight into the mind of a top racer back in the days when fatalities were common. 35 in ten years was a number recalled at one stage. It was also a very personal look at the grief of his wife. At times I felt it was almost too personal. Very moving stuff

yeah i was totally thinking that just after it finished. proud to be kiwi-we seem to be able to do a lot with minimal resources.
it was a very sad doco tho.:crybaby: and man their flat in germany was a crapper..ewe..no bath for a week!
but it was super what he achieved...wat a cool lifestyle they had once they were on the circuit. bling for the post or i'd never have spotted it. that was the first and last telly i'll see in a while ;)

Makes me see outboard motors in a new light! Seriously sad-interesting that he picked the problem with the corner that cost him his life, and the typical inaction of small-minded officials.

I actually thought this was more interesting :dodge: It's probably because the guys do a damn scarey job. The divers were inside this massive net repairing holes with Mako sharks scoping them out, and all this in some of the most shark infested waters in the world. Bugger that for a joke!

This has been screened on television here, at least twice now. An excellent documentary and strongly reccommended viewing.
It would be great to see a retailer stocking the full disks over here. The interviews and the information about the bike would be very interesting to see.

It can be difficult tracking one down here; especially the extended version with the mechanic going over the bike.

Good documentary but less than inspired programming, the Moto GP coverage is on at the same time.
There's also a biker movie "Harley Davidson and the Marlborough Man" conflicting with the GP coverage.
Well done Sky. Still, shouldn't complain. At least we're getting coverage of the GP.

I can't wait till Hampton Downs opens, Puke has had it's day and claimed many more riders than it should have.
But Kim's story is just amazing, keep an eye out for repeats on the doco channel.

I am so sorry one of you though it was out of line for me to post this on three forums.
Guess I wanted people to see it.
As this pissed me off here I go,
1 - I was the editor and worked on the project for 8 months.
2 - I met Janeen Newcombe and her family, and attended screenings with her and also unfortunately her funeral.
I am proud of what I have done and wanted people to see it, if this upsets you sorry.
I wasn't going to announce my involvement in the project as I didn't feel it was neccessary. I have posted a lot of times when the film played at Rialto etc but never mentioned I was the Editor.
It just amazes me, I am upset and angry and I am afraid I have had enough of this Kiwibiker site,

Hold on the horses one minute here... I haven't read the dis comment and don't intend to, but please vinducati, lets get this in perspective. You work in the film industry so you have to get a harder skin. One bad comment????? A little melodramatic? re-read and see all the positive comments. My partner came in half way through and she had swelling in her eyes at the end, someone stole my voice near the end and I had to have a glass of water, the impact of his death on the owner of the bikes and on Janeen was wonderfully put, we felt their loss. It was a good doco and well worth the effort. i'm not going to rub your back and say its alright, but get over it... Too many positive comments to let one get to you.
