As an unashamed anglophile proud of my English roots I couldnt be happier with this mornings result. Who would support a bunch of snail eaters anyway? Most of us are descended from the English, some of us a little more closely, so why shouldnt we support them?

If Its an England / Argentina final then its going to be a re-run of the Falklands War, to that end I hope the English once again give them a good kicking!

I take it England won then?

I watched the first half, but it was boring, and I got distracted and forgot to watch the second.

I can never figure out why the players keep stopping. Today's game looked quite static. Kick, mill around, kick, lineout, kick, mill around a bit more, etc.

Ah, the NZ Herald website tells me that Mr Wilkinson's boot eventually did the trick, 14-9.

I'm sure rugby aficionados appreciate such a game, but I found what I saw of it very yawn-inducing.

I actually find it embarrassing when as I said most of us are descended from the English. There is a Union Jack in the corner of our National flag, long may it stay there.

And heck we could do with a lot more English immigrants in preference to what is actually happening.

It's because more of us have Celtic roots than you'd imagine. You only have to skim the most sanitised and PC history book to see why.

Plus I lived on the South Coast of Engurlund for a year. Pack of cunts. Anyone from North of the Watford gap gets my vote. France needs to unload its Nuclear arsenal on the rest of the country though.

The Argies are gonna waste Engurlund in the final.

That doesnt matter, England won the semi! Where I was watching from that ''one good player'' seemed pretty handy at both kicking and managing his side. And he didnt score all of Englands points.
All you English knockers out there forget that England invented the game, and a great more besides that we comfortably take for granted.

It seems tome that seen as there are lots of dollars spent on sponsorship and heaps paid for TV rights they want entertaining Footy thats what the AB's try to do, but isnt it the idea to win the game, don't care how it's the World cup the best team doesn't always win. It's the team that apply's themselfs to the conditions and play unfairly at times. If you get away with it who cares.England:clap::clap::clap:Engaland:clap::clap ::clap:

"England are not on the winner's podium yet of course, but they have progressed much further than most of us thought they would.

Wilkinson will not have walked from the Paris turf believing or claiming that he had done everything right either. He will already been poring over the things he got wrong."

Now now mate, you must show "The New Kiwis" some grace and civility, because they have surrendered their Nation to the Pakistani's, Muslims, Hindu's etc and are feeling dejected and lost. They have turned to countries like NZ and Aus in search of a final bastion where they can stride about with an air of arrogance an dream of times in the British Empire, and summering in High country out posts in India, while the Natives served Adequate Tea at noon and Afternoon while they waxed lyrical over there culture and history.

IMHO, on the strength of the two semi finals, I will be surprised if the Poms don't win the final again!

Boy will that piss off the pundits who think the poms play negative rugby!

The quality of both semis (as a rugby spectacle) was a bit disappointing but they were both very hard games for the players.

The Argies kicked away too much possession foolishly but they could only be as good as SA would let them I suppose.

I have no favourite for the final but have always thought SA would do it this time.

I got the French bit wrong though. John.

I think your sampling rate is very low.

He might be able to get a larger sample size if he was willing to drop the bushel of sliced and fried potatoes on his shoulder - he'd get a better view.

Most kiwis and aussies (when asked) seem to dislike the english because 'they're arrogant and expect to win everything, big-headed, superior, etc'.

Might have been true 50-60 years ago, but it generally hasn't been the mentality of most english people since the 1960's and 1970's, when the country took more than a few hard knocks.

Look a bit harder and you'll find:

1) that its a minority of idiots who have that attitude, and who make a lot of noise about it (and who are generally heartily loathed by most english - soccer hooligans being a good example).

2) that most englishmen find it absolutely impossible to resist the opportunity for a good wind-up, especially when you're doing the equivalent of walking round with a sign on your back saying 'kick me hard'. See any of boomer's posts in this thread, or, well, any of boomers posts, really.

I think it all went pear shaped for the Brits when the Yanks unceremoniously pulled their support from Anthony Eden during the 56 Suez Crisis. But, notwithstanding any other ''contentious'' reasons Margaret Thatchers refusal to accept the Argie occupation of the Falkland Islands in 82 massively restored British pride. I know, because I lived there during that period.

It is a mystery that when most of us are descended from British stock that so many in this country knock them. Partly driven I suspect by left wing Republican bu.....t. British history is by no means clean but they have also given the world so much. ( Dont mention British Leyland and mushy peas ) And their sense of humour is second to none.

Now, Boomer. He is probably the most ''prolific pom'' on this site and yes he does talk a bit of shite and yes I suspect he is a bit of a lefty. But I have spoken to him, cant hope to meet a nicer guy and not a touch of arrogance.

I for one will be happily cheering for the Brits this weekend, in both rugby and Formula 1, and why the hell wouldnt I when my ancestors are British?

As much as I hate to admit it - I enjoyed the game. No tries but the points that were scored were within the context of the game, not scored from ultra long range or sitting behind a forward pack having pot shots by drop goal. The ref had a good game only getting a couple of calls a little wrong - which is bloody good considering the pace of the game.

Well done SAFA's. See you in 4 years time - hopefully.

Yes fair call, didnt dredge back too far! There is a ''fashion'' in this country to knock the English and I really resent that, being not too far removed myself, English grandfather, Mother conceived in England.
