Though I have never posted before and you have never seen or even talked to me, I wish to thank every one of you.

Over the last few months I have been floating around your forums learning about the biking world. You have answered all my queries, persuaded me to get my license, helped me decide on a bike and today, buy that bike. You guys have such a huge collection of motorbike knowledge on this website that I haven’t NEEDED to ask you guy’s questions because they were already answered.

So after many, many hours of research, the parent’s approval, getting a part time job and then spending most of my money, I paid the deposit for my first bike (2006 GN250 with top box, Pirelli front tire and 1000km on the clock) from Holeshot Motorcycles. Then I kitted myself self with some Spyke Gear and a helmet from Cycletrends and ending up spending just over three grand. Come Saturday next week I will be the sole owner of my new (used) bike.

All this would not have been possible without your site.

So thanks again and I hope that once I have gained some experience I will be able to join you guys on a ride. Also, hopefully I will be able to get off the newbie questions and get to some creative posting.

Yours sincerely
Mike.

If you see someone on a black GN with a hopefully very visible red jacket on (why is it so hard to find cheap, non-black clothing? You can’t see it half the time, especially when it’s dark.) around the north shore. That’s probably me.

Glad to see you have Pirelli feet....the GNs come out with crap tyres as ya probably know by now.....but treat your bike good (reg oil changes etc) and it will treat you good....They are a reliable and robust engine. I have owned a couple myself along with a GN400 and never had any trouble....welcome to the bike world and keep the rubber on the road!

No problem, Some good training courses around also if you need. But remember the Cruiser group aint into riding like lunatics:lol: most are riders with many many years of riding under their belts, so is a great group to tag along with and learn the techniques..
Whenever you are ready..
Have fun.. some great roads up here on the shore..
Cheers

Glad Someone got some use out of all the drivel posted on this site!!!

Honestly though, there is an amazing wealth of knowledge here, both in the threads and the folk that lurk, isn't there? And remember, if you ever need to know anything about anything, you only seem to need to ask!

Welcome, have fun on your new ride, you sound like you have your head well screwed on, be safe out there, happy travels!!

There are at least 2 in AKL, Passrite in a few places in akl, (Albany as well) and another is Ride Safe in Penrose I think, Ridesafe seems to have a good rep. well worth doing to ensure you dont pick up the bad habits that can kill or harm you  the rest is just practice and clocking up the kilometers..
Enjoy..

Welcome to the world of motorcycling and I hope you enjoy it. It can be fun no matter what you ride. Take it easy and ride as if every other bugger on the road is out to get you. Learn th equirks of the GN (and it has a few) and take it easy but most of all have fun.

Oh and welcome to Kb

Welcome to KB, good choice for first bike.
You might also want to come along on a wednesday night mentors event and see if that will work for you.
Meeting at Shell Westgate and riding to Albany (some just go to Albany direct) and practice basic techniques and some more advanced ones for those who want them.
Stay safe

Thanks everyone for the great responses!

AWNMR, meet at Shell Westgate at 6.30, depart at 7pm to Albany for training and then a chin wag after the session.
Can also just come direct to Albany if that suits you better, meet outside ASB on Burger King side of building, in carpark, about 7.25pm.

Thanks for that johnney, Might be a while as i want to take it slow and learn it right.

The cruiser rider group is a good environment to learn and get your skills up mate. Not all the group ride cruisers either and they are a fine bunch of people indeed. Same with the Maha rides.

Please feel free to come along and let us empty your wallet at the pub anytime.

Hi! Welcome to KiwiBiker! :spudwave: :wavey:

Part of the reason is that the coloured stuff fades badly and shows the dirt. I bought a Teknic Hurricane jacket in red'n'black a few years back, and it now looks very shabby: the red has faded to greyish-pink in many places, and all the road spooge from commuting has stained the fabric. It takes a couple of weeks of commuting for the zorst fumes to cover everything with a lovely black film. Wonder what it does to my lungs... :buggerd:
