Saturday 20 October BuckBuckNo1’s Cruisie Ride – Around Wellington Harbour and Bays

It has been three months since the last harbour and bays ride so....

Saturday 20th October
Gathering Point 1.
Rimutex 10.00am for 10.15 departure:

SH2 south then left at traffic lights up and over Mangaroa Hill.

Out around Mangaroa Valley and right at Mangaroa Valley/Whitemans Valley intersection and up over Wallaceville Hill.

Down back of Trentham Camp and then left before rail crossing and through Silverstream under rail bridge and rejoin SH2.
SH2 to Kennedy Goode Bridge and Avalon Duckpond

Gathering Point2 [ Duckpond Approximately 11am departure]
Avalon – SH2 south to – Kaiwharawhara exit.

Gathering Point3 [Kaiwharawhara Caltex Approximately 11.20 departure]
Waterloo and Jervois Quay, Cable Street and then along Oriental Bay

Gathering Point4 [End of Oriental Bay at start of Evans Bay 11.35 departure]

Keeping harbour and bays on our left all the way around to Happy Valley and up over Brooklyn Hill. [There will be a stops at Scorching Bay and Island Bay to regroup.]



Destination - Cornerstore Café and Bar at traffic light intersection in Brooklyn
On the last harbour and bays ride in July we stopped here in Brooklyn.

I am thinking perhaps to then continue on up to the Windmill above Brooklyn,,,,consensus on the day for a photo shoot.

Heading north towards Upper Hutt on SH2 passed Silverstream, passed Moonshine Bridge carry on along SH2 passed Totara Park traffic light intersection staying on SH2 you will come to 70kph zone through next set of lights and you will round a left bend and see Rimutaka Tavern and next door Caltex service station - pull into the Caltex [aka Rimutex]

Now here is today's SNAFU: Situation Normal All F#@$ed Up

Coming off the motorway at Ngauranga then along the Hutt Road, I moved from right to left lane and station in front of slower moving vehicle, I wave riders behind to proceed and pass then move into left lane in front of me....with me so far, well the next Gathering Point was on the Hutt Road at Caltex....you guessed it all but two kept on riding right past the Caltex....we caught them up at Evans Bay.
