The guy is shooting an AR-50. The target, a steel plate, was 100 yards away. You can hear the ping of the hit, then the bullet comes back , bounces off the ground in front of him and hits his earmuffs on his head.

You can hear the bullet as it tumbles through the air on its course back toward the shooter.

That happened to me once, shooting FMJs from a Mosin Nagant M38 (caliber 7.62x54R) at a 50-yard steel gong.

What I assume was a bullet jacket fragment (the lead would have just splashed on impact) whizzed back on impact and hit me hard in the left shoulder. Didn't break through my jacket but gave me a hell of a fright.

Never shoot without eye protection, folks!

I was shooting at a steel plate at 25yards when I was younger and had a ricochet come straight back at me one time, after that I started shooting at the steel plate slightly of to the side. Could still hear them whizzing by a couple of metres from me.

After seeing the vid, I'm not so keen on steel plate targets now.

Just make sure you use a round that can penetrate the steel plate... should be fine.

We were using a steel warratah to hold up a plywood target one time while plinking with the .22, mate shows up with his .308, missed the bulls eye and hit the warratah, cut it right in half and left a fist sized hole in the clay bank behind, was pretty cool to see.

Would be fun to have barrels filled with petrol as targets and a shooter that could fire HESH rounds. Would need a rather remote spot for it though...

Damn! Reminds me of the time me and my bomber crew were over Khe San in Vietnam, whacking the commies senseless with our 1000lb bombs. Bob the navigator dropped the payload straight over a goddamn commie trampoline factory, sending one bomb right back at us! I took evasive action immediately, luckily we managed to come away unscathed.
I still have nightmares to this day....

Na man, I think it was Scumdog suggested it, hang a plastic bottle of petrol from a fence over a candle and shoot it with either a hollowpoint or shotty round, should make a tidy fire ball. :ar15:

Last year I put a bbq gas cylinder on a burning hay bale and shot it with a 7.62 mosin nagant. Didn't quite make the explosion I was hoping for but smashed a fist sized hole in the cylinder and made one hell of a fireball.

Na man, I think it was Scumdog suggested it, hang a plastic bottle of petrol from a fence over a candle and shoot it with either a hollowpoint or shotty round, should make a tidy fire ball. :ar15:

'Apparently' it works well with a plastic bag hanging above a candle and using a 223 hollow-point.....apparently:whistle:

BTW: Make sure the candle is not TOO close to the bag of petrol - and that the bag doesn't leak!!:shit:

Coolest I've seen is a .50 cal barrett fired, huge splash in the pond it was fired into, everyones hats flew off, camera lost focus from all the dust flying around.
