I'm new to the world of scooters and was hoping I could get some advice.
I just want something simple that will get me to university and back. A few hills but nothing major. I have about $2000 so I think that a vespa is a bit out of my price range.
I've read through a few other forums and I know that I should keep away from chinese models and was thinking of a 2 stroke scooter that I could derestrict.
I was looking at a Vmoto Milan as I prefer the look of the retro scoters. Does anyone know where I should be looking for scooters and if I should be looking for a new or a used scooter.:scooter:

It might be worth visiting www.scootling.co.nz as they have a range of used scoots there that might suit your budget. I'm fairly sure that they had a retro looking Honda in amongst their stock list last time I looked.

Personally I have a Suzuki SJ50 which I like a lot. I've also ridden an older Honda Dio, and that was a *very* cool bit of machinery to ride. Made the SJ50 feel like a bus!

If you have the chance, take a Honda Dio for a spin, you might like it.

Yeah they are good people at Scootling. They have some good bargins, if possible just drop in and check them out. Another option would be going to a Yamaha dealer and bargaining for a new Jog or if you can raise a few more bucks and then you have a scoot that will carry a warranty for any nastyness that may occur. Yet another option is the UZ125 scoot which has all the bells and whistles (fuel injection, disc brakes, 4T and it is a 125cc) for a few dollars more than a new Jog.

Just don't buy anything from China, too many horror stories to mention... If you do buy a lesser known brand then you are just asking to be :buggerd: and it will all end in :argue: and :weep:
