Better than frame sliders? Would seemingly place less stress on the engine mount in a crash and be less likely to dig in and flip the bike.

Never seen anyone using one though...

Looks like half a stunters cage, which you see in fairly regular use

I don't really see what they offer, they don't protect the fairing very well, and the engine case is still fairly exposed

They dont look very clever as a crash rail but they may be ok to tie the bike to the back of the ute .

I was looking at these a while back... depending on your model, they might mount ok... mine did not.

The other issue I have heard of is the weight balance being wrong as such, and instead of sliding on the lower half, it gets caught and ends up sliding on the upper half...

That said, all protection has risks don't they, and some will rip mounts out.. so yeh...
