Ok, so its the first time i will be taking my bike in for a WOF. I have booked it in for next Friday (26th Oct) and the dude there told me to check the bike over before I bring it in. He told me what to check and it all sounds pretty straight forward, except I am unsure how to check if my chain is to loose and if it is how the hell do I tighten it.

Anyways if anyone can explain it would be much appreciated.

Cheers:sunny:

Put it on a paddock stand if you have one,if not no matter, undo the axle nut..see pic,you will see an adjuster bolt with a nut, undo the nut and wind it back a bit then do the same with the bolt, that will tighten the chain, note the adjust marks on both left and right hand side of bike, make sure that its adjusted to the same one on both sides,do up the nut then tighten axle nut and your done.Leave some freeplay in the chain, check that by moving it up/down about 1/2 way between front/back sprocket, you dont want it to tight.

It would have to be very loose before you got turned down for a wof, while your at it throw some chain lube on it,saves you $ in the long run.
