The drag nights are good fun. You get in shitloads of runs (about 10-15) basically as many as your clutch can handle. Does wonders for your launching technique too which is a big help for race starts.
I'm planning to head out there this summer for a bit of jetting/top end tuning - way cheaper than a dyno and lots more fun!!

hey cajun $1000 sounds a bit steep to hire it when it only costs about $25 to enter the drag wars which are very well run and you dont have to do anything they give you print outs certificates if you win or come second etc. they have practice and qualifying goes on for a while then eliminations and if you still aint had enough they have grudge racing before the burnout comp. if you wanna do a drag i would reccomend these. i did one at meremere there were 50 other vehicles and i never felt like i had to stand in line for too long or that i dint get my fair share of races.

yeah mate. Half the fun would be toasting all the rice boys though so I'd be keener to get down there when all the egotistical little squirts have their shiney cages out!

considering it... prolly with dragbike though....

if i did throw the viffer on there Hoon (as you seem a little experienced) how long can i expect the clutch to last? like is it going to be fairly wearing on the old girl or are the breaks inbetween runs enough?

yeah its good fun - done it a few times in both bikes and cages.

it's actually a lot harder to run down the track close to the 'magazine' times than you think...the track is usually slippery (did a 90' fish-tailing burnout one morning - was the first on the track that day!), you've got to find that balance between putting enough power down to go fast without popping the wheel up too high...

Yep its not as easy as it looks and it does reqire shitloads of practice to get good. Just like any race discipline a good rider on a 600cc can embarass a noob on a 1000cc.

Yeah you just need to let it cool down properly (i.e. 15-20 mins between runs) and you'll be alright. You know things are getting bad when you go to do your burnout but the clutch spins instead of your back wheel!

only done the drags at meremere once on a TL-S, i creamed all those buggers in tin tops. there were a few quickish cars there though including a skyline doing high 11 sec runs. i tell you its bloody cool too here you got the fastest time of the day over the loud speaker so everyone can here it. :scooter: :first:

This sounds like a pretty cool plan.

I'm going to be in New Plymouth from about the 12th of November so if you have any after that I would be keen to come up for them. Should take around 3 hours to get there from NP so if i leave after work I could probably be there around 8 or 9ish.

Any firm dates yet?
