Any 250's heading to Taupo Track Day from Auckland on 28 October?
Was thinking of heading down for a ride to spectate, but riding all that way by yourself isn't much fun. So is anyone interested in going and wants to ride as a group? Weather dependant of course as wife will apply the virtual handbrake if the weather isn't the best.\
Speaking of which I should probably tell her I'm going :)

Pretty sure it is. I'll check with Frosty.
I was planning on going to the Sulpur City ralley in Rotorua on the same day until I saw the photo's of the previous years......didn't really see any jappa's there so I doubt a Korean made bike would fit in :) So thought go to Taupo instead as we all know KB'rs are the best bunch :)

Haven't thought that far ahead as yet. Wanted to see how many were interested first. An interesting route but one thats not going to take half a day to get there.
Any suggestions?

My ZXR gets still gets 16km/l when I'm thrashing it and 18km/l commuting. Works out to about 160-200km to reserve. Never takes the claimed 15l to fill tho and reserve isn't 4l... More like 10-11.

Yeah I get the same thing... I've had it happen twice yet if I switch to reserve before it dies it runs fine.
I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the vacuum fuel system and having the float bowls run totally dry. Might form an airlock or something.
From experimentation it seems that if you put it on PRI for 10mins then try it usually starts. Just don't run your battery flat trying before that.
Either way I try to avoid running to reserve just in case!

Thats because your fuel is all on the right side and not on the left side... the bottom of the tank is shaped like an upside down U.. just shake it around a bit and lean it left and you'll get some gas back down the reserve pipe.
the other thing is if u run ur carbs dry aswell u have to wait for it to suck some more through the system... notice turning off ur tap wont kill the engine cuz theres still gas in the carbs

All this talk about numb arses means you've been having a good pootle! :woohoo:
We had plenty of stops for fuel, cancer sticks and in Fub@r's case - he got everyone worried when he didn't turn up as TEC due to tyre issues! Heck, I ended up TECing him at one stage and before Taupo, he pulls off to a side stop ... and I thought he had more tyre probs. Turns out he just wanted to take a picture of the breath-taking vista that was panoramically spread before him! :gob: :slap:
And then it had to happen, the two fools that accompanied me let me take point ... and the pootling began! Rozzers were present and the usual dodgy cagers and classic NZ road conditions made for entertaining bedfellows (:o ooer!)
Good to see McJim and Chickadee before they flock south, Zapf with his portable handcannon shooting piccies and a few other KBers (BuFFy, Sanx to name a few)
Riding down the SH, the cheesecutters were an ever present spectre and I've never enjoyed riding near them. Overall, it was just an excuse for a good pootle, and it seems its time for me to change the oil and filter again in my little ol'hornet!
Thanks to the group, we made good time and with a minimum of fuss and bother. Right, whens the next pootle? :innocent:
