Today was the start of a new beginning or the end of the old one. :confused2

In my infinite wisdom I decided to wag tech and go take my bike to spectrum and then go for a bit of a drive before work.

So I headed out to old Albany to some god-forsaken road which I have never been on.

Well to cut a long story short

Rain + 1991 Toyota corolla + blind corner + truck + 45km/h = -1991 Toyota corolla.

I will upload some photos when I get them

But here’s some from last summer.

The math for this is

0 experience driver + mates car + mate + mate saying "I don’t care what you do it cost me $400 so go as fast as you want" + night + wet + corner + deck.

I think there is a pattern here.

Any one got a car i can borrow im a good driver honest! :shifty: :o

Try this: Dumbarse + Car = You Fucked Up!

I'm seeing a pattern.

Learn how to drive to the conditions and stay away from me and my kids! 'Cause although I'm "Too much of a pussy to beat the shit outta my kids", I'm not too much of a pussy to extract revenge on some fuckwit should they ever be hurt in a car accident.

I'm seeing a pattern "crap driver" = "crap driver" ad infinitum!!!

Don't come looking at me place to borrow a car, the only one I'd give you is a f...ed slot-car, - and then I'd give it grudgingly 'cos you'd only bend THAT too!

Stay up North, at least the roads around here might be safer for it, not sure what the North did to deserve you!!! - stick to Hot-Wheels before you kill somebody :angry2: :finger:

How come everyone today is too much of a pussy to smack recklesss drivers around? That's what I want to know why are police lawless to beat these KIDS? When I was a kid, I knew if I drove like that, cops would beat my ass. We didn't have a conversation about it. I didn't have a time out. In fact, Ive never even once been ticketed once in my life. Whats the point? Great idea why don't you take him to a psychiatrist while you're at it so he/she can pull some disorder out of his/her ass to hide the fact that you're a bad driver?

I wasn’t doing anything wrong BTW, it was a 100K speed limit and I was doing 40-45 it was just a tight corner and I was just over the center line. You know tight narrow corners. The wet didn’t help either,

Absolutely no excuse. Crossing the centre line is just asking for it. That white line in the middle of the road isn't an advisory sign. It should be treated as an immutable law of physics.

Jim2 speaks truth. Any time you cross the centre line, you can consider yourself lucky to be subsequently alive. Particularly on a bike, but it applies to cages as well.

Crossing the line means that you're an absolutely shite rider/driver. You suck. You suck GOATS. There's not much more to it than that.

I never said I was a good driver.

Do you get some kind of kick out of public humiliation, then?

Please tell me that the Mindset of Yoof hasn't degenerated to the point where its representatives somehow expect society to reward or applaud them for mediocrity and failure.

Getting drunk and beating the wife and kids isn't funny. Neither is, say, losing a job through incompetence, or crashing a succession of cages on the open road due to nothing more than stupidity. Nobody's laughing, either with or at you.

Why did you start this thread?

riffer
18th October 2004, 20:26
Yep. Gotta agree with just about everything here.

Driving beyond either the conditions or capabilities of either yourself or your vehicle is stupid. Bragging about it is just childish.

I would not be impressed if I was on the road on my bike and you came across the centreline at me. In fact If you crashed in front of me I'd probably stop the bike and come over and beat you senseless with my helmet.

Surely as a motorcyclist you realise how senseless this kind of driving is?

Come on mate, we have to share the roads with you. Driving like a Brain Dead Cager is not gonna get you any friends or influence anyone here.

And also, talking as a parent, your sig line sucks. I sure hope you don't treat your kids that way.

Speaking of which did anyone see that program on tv3 tonight (20/20 or something like)? At the end of it, it showed what was happing next week about the "now" generation - i.e. my generation. I myself was disgusted. How many of you wiser riders were smacked around a bit when you pissed off the old man? Look what fine examples you all turned out to be. On the show it had all these young punks saying "give me a top job now and top wage" this is a direct result as parents being over protective, how many parents let there kids play out side instead of with the old playstation? (BTW i'm the exception to this rule as I played on it and turned out fine but that’s only cause I get serve beatings to make up for staying inside it all works out in the end).

For instance, when I went to primary school this kid who lived next door was driven to school. Less than 10M and he was in a safety seat. All buckled up. At the time I thought there’s only one or two parents like that so it’s ok; being older and wiser now I can spot them everywhere. Kids on leads, skateboard helmets and pads. Hell even motorbike helmets (I wouldn’t go out without one on but I can remember a time when it was the norm not to were one.) How many kids have ridden a push bike with out a helmet? How many have jumped in the "deep pool"? How many have gone to bed and not brushed there teeth. HOW MANY? Too many.

Oh and btw as in mention to my siggy it’s just poking a bit of fun at the overprotective parent. I’m not a kid-beater-up kinda guy. They say sarcasm is the lowest form of humor, If you can’t get that......... :D :D :D

I think the point people are trying to make now is that, yeah, we all make mistakes and some of us pay severley for it and then all brag about it to one degree or another.
But to openly go on about the choice to act like an idiot, because your mate said it's ok...when you've done the same thing before...gives you no excuse to drive like an idiot.
It's wet...so f'ing what! Drive slower.

I pretty well can guarantee that _almost_ everyone on this site has done something illegal and dangerous on the roads and because of this they have tried to learn from their mistakes and are trying to prevent more.

To sumarise:
Stay in school
Don't eat cereal with a fork
and don't drive like a f'kwit cos your mate says its ok.

And I am glad that you are ok and very glad that no one else got hurt.

The only times you'll find me even touching the centre line (apart from the obvious passing manouvers) are those 0.1% of times when you cannot physically fit (the cage) between a parked vehicle/object and the centreline.

Saying never would be stupid as I have previously admitted it not possible 100% of the time avoid it.

When it is possible to avoid, i'm quite happy in saying that I never touch it. (hmm, I just said 'never', good work Devil).

I always thought this generations riders would be more aware of the driving stupidity out there as its compulsory to sit a basic handling skills test etc. Andrew Templeton at roadsafe is an awesome guy and shares his personal experiences in order to keep us safe on the road.
Before i rode a bike, i was so more unaware of how dangerous you can drive in a cage. But ever since riding a bike i have toned down on the cage side a fair amount. I'm not saying im perfect but i thought as a rider you wouldnt like to be put in danger, imagine if you hit a rider on that corner?
Anyone in wellington/kapiti read the kapi mana, story in there about a cage driver that didnt scrub in 5 second old tyres on his cage, boosts out of the shop, spins, hit another vehicle with 3 passengers (two kids). Flips upside down and walked away.
Oh he also claims hes not a boy racer even though hes changed the MAZDA sign to MAD AZ, and has NoS kitted to his car.
Sorry about the random rant but my Toyota rolly 92 suits me fine, only mods on that baby are the fluffy dice :)

I had a fairly close call a couple of weeks ago on Paekak Hill Road, all because some dumbarse in a 4wd with trailer decided it was safe enough to cut the corner.
