Another V-Twinner in KB's ranks.:spudwhat:

Seriously, congrats on the new ride, and hope your wife gets over it. Quickly.

It took Mrs FS MONTHS to get over me buying the VF500 (instead of a bedroom suite) with money I inherited from my Grandma, and months too when I upgraded to the VFR.:blank:

Congratulations.

Blakamin, dude, why on earth spend all that money on a bike that makes less power than your existing one, will rot quickly, and will suck disproportionate amounts of cash over time?

I'm sure I don't need to make an exhaustive list of all the technically superior Japanese bikes you could have purchased for similar or less outlay.

And there you go, I've said the obvious stuff, now nobody else needs to bleat on about it.

One way or the other, it's your choice, hope you enjoy it. :niceone:

Can't tempt you with any of those?
I'd settle for any of those, or an ST2, ST3, ST4 or Mostro.

I certainly would chuck an ST2/ST3 out of the garage if one appeared. Don't think I'd want an ST4 - aren't the four valve Ducs the ones that require lots of expensive/time consuming valve fiddling?

StoneChucker
18th October 2004, 16:18
Regardless of how much power it makes, or what else you could have got, some bikes are just meant to be owned by certain people. Clearly, you have what you desired, so good on you :)

Btw, some people are bitter, because EVERYONE knows, deep down inside, red is the fastest, longest lasting color :msn-wink: :msn-wink:

With the standard Ducati Valve collets you can get up to about 8000mile depending on how tight or loose the clearances are set. There is a Canadian company that makes their own design ones that apparently triple that.

Cam belts need changing every 2 years or 10-15,000km, depending on who you talk to. It's a fairly small job for someone who knows what they are doing. My last ones were 2 years/9000 miles and not too bad condition when they came out.

Red the longest lasting colour?!?! No ways! It fades like a mofo, leaving you with an ugly piece of machinery. Not that an R1 CAN get ugly though :)

Cool bike. I've always fancied these as a statement in minimal style. Don't worry about that "less power" shite from people that read too many magazines. Learn to ride the 600 well and you will show most of us the way over Rimutaka Hill.

Very VERY nice BK.

You know you've just scored some serious browney points with Lynda. Now all you need is the carbon fibre accessories (sure you can borrow her catologue when she gets back) and Ducati apparel and then you'll be a true Ducatisti.

Always held a fond spot for Ducati (Italian machines in general). They may take a bit more "love, care and attention", but they're so sexy and when they're on (like an Italian woman) they're ON.

This is going to be a summer to you'll tell you're grand kids about. :2thumbsup

, I love my Duc :love2: as I do my woman :Punk:

A comment which may get you in as much trouble as actually buying the bike.

Even though you may think it pretty soppy to include her in the same sentiment, women have a strange way of seeing themselves as more important than bikes. (Though don’t be foolish enough to bear comparison with her shoe collection as the ego is likely to be dented  ).

Maybe the best defence is that if you are so obsessed with the bike you are less likely to be chasing other women. Glad you are happy with the new bike, it is important to get what you desire motorcycle wise, . . . well, within reason. :ride:

The YZF is looking sweet mate!

The weather was crap, plus I got paged so I had to beetle home. Left work to go up there at 4:30pm, and got to the top of the hill at 5:11pm. Was a lovely ride up with only one car.

Mike's wee Duke is very sweet too.

Was that Sparky Bill on the GSXR400? Didn't really introduce ourselves properly, did we???
