Hi Folks, for those who wish to come to our Daniels funeral

Please all bike riders if possible please come by Bike,
service will be held at a Baptist Church in West Auckland,
This Thursday coming at 2.30 in the afternoon,
The actual church will be posted shortly

We will have the service then will be trying to put on a few sandwiches after the service, the hearse will wait till we have had a quick snack at the Church then all bikes we hope will follow the hearse to the creamatorium at Morrison on Lincoln Rd in Henderson, Simon the rector will be on one of the Bikes as a pillion as he has no legal road bike at the moment, I also beg of one of you to take my daughter and her partner as pillions, as I will be riding a Honda NXR125 KS which is the model of Bike we first bought him new to learn to ride on.

Please let me know if you are coming as we have to work out how much food to try a get together, and if any one wants to bring a plate they are most welcome,

Ride safe, we want this to be accident free, as it possible from what I have been told we could have a large number of bike there, please attend and help celebrate his short life.

John, Kate and Melanie,
AKA WelshWizard on Kiwi Biker

Where my self and other close friends of the older biking brigade with take him into the crematorium
we have as far as I know 6 school friends
The bearer team to take him out of the Church to the hearse will be Corey, Rudolph, N4CR, Slowhand, Karma, Gremlin.
From the hearse to the Crematorium we have 6 old school.

John Dragon and Melanie

Extra Update
Funeral directors have asked all bike rider to meet by 1.45 at Western Rd, to follow hearse up to church at 2.00, so he can be waiting for others to arrive who are not on bikes.

Meet Point Directions
The Meet Point is 1 Western Road (or thereabouts) and please be there by 1.45pm. I have attached a map of where it is. If you go to Titirangi, and at the roundabout, head down Huia Rd. Follow the road until you go round a right hander with a reserve on the right. Look for Laingholm Drive on the left, turn off, and go right, up a hill (this is Laingholm Drive). Follow this road for a while, it is very twisty, and could be slippery. Eventually, you will come out along the shore, and you will find western road to your right. From there, at 1.45pm, we will follow the hearse to the church.

Please Register Your Attendance
We need an idea of numbers attending, for catering, and how many bikes we need to plan for. Please register your attendance here:

I have created a calendar event for the funeral, here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&ea=attend&e=1426) and I ask that anyone attending please register, as I need an idea of numbers for catering (and the numbers I have to look at managing for routes etc). Please do this as soon as possible.

Please be aware that the roads in the area can be dangerous, so exercise caution.

For riders that are forming up in groups around Auckland to travel to the meeting point, if leaders require directions, please contact me, and I will be happy to help. You can pm or email me through my profile, or ring me on 021 953 943.

Can I ask anyone organising a meeting point for travelling to the funeral in the Mt Roskill / Hillsborough area to contact Sarge (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=3387) on 0274 887 457 (real name is Dallas) as he would like to travel with someone to the meeting point if possible. He doesn't have access to a computer, so it is likely he won't respond to any pm/email.

He does know I have posted this message, so just say what you are ringing about.

Have finalised a lot of the details, and here is a basic idea of how it will go:

1.45pm - All bikes assembled at meeting point on Western Road and ready to go.
approx 2pm - Hearse will arrive at the church, followed by family on bikes, close friends, then convoy of bikes
2.30pm - Aim to officially start the funeral. Family will say their tributes, followed by a couple of close friends. Pastor will also announce the open forum after that, for anyone to pay tribute.
3.40pm - Aim to finish service. Refreshments will be provided.
4.00pm - Hearse must have left for the crematorium (it needs approx 30 minutes, and the appointment is at 4.30pm). Family will follow on their bikes, then close friends, and any bikes wishing to provide a convoy until the crematorium are free to do so.
4.30pm - Private ceremony at the crematorium for the family and close friends to say their final goodbyes.

Sorry not going to be able to make it, just found the details!

My regards to the family!

I know that area well, if you dont like extremely narrow twisty roads do not go Laingholm Drive!

Below is a link to S-maps and some directions this will make it a safer ride:

Go up Titirangi Road to the Road-about.
Turn left down Huia Road
Keep following it go past the reserve (on right) past Laingholm Drive (on left)!
Go past the old gas station (think it is a cafe now on right) past Woodlands Park Drive (on right)!
Keep going does get a little twisty!
Take first left turn into Victory Road!
Keep following Victory Road - go past school (on left), past firestation (on right) (road takes sharp right)
Keep following Victory Road all the way down the hill (it does get twisty) but will bring you out at the desired shop and is a lot safer - will have to trust me on that one!

Was great to be a part of the proceedings yesterday, the sidecar arrangement for Daniel was quite special... And the general respect shown by the other motorists en-route to the crematorium (with the exception to this being the truck blasting thru the KB "Block" - after which he got set upon by a pair of Vespas, and the idiot in the mercedes - ZRXer reminded him of his place in the gene pool)

He kept edging towards the block, basically indicating move it or I will push you over. Saw this as I approached and went to join the block but a few others saw it and beat me to it. Think 5 bikes blocked him in the end.

As for that truck, he was an absolute git, besides being down right dangerous how he pushed past the block in to the bikes coming around the intersection.

Not only were they blocking him but he was sitting on the car horn so one of those blocking the car sat there saluting him with a single digit the entire time his horn was sounding. He also got surrounded by Vespa's so he may have ended up rather intimidated. That or he's such an arrogant twat nothing will ever change his opinion that he's god.

Yeah seen what was going on as we went past, heard the horn. Thought "what a pig" nice thing to teach the kid who was sitting in the back seat eh.:eek5:

It was an honour to ride in the procession, an overwhelmingly surreal ride, one full of pride and sorrow.
Much love to John, Kate and Melanie for sharing Daniels last ride with us all.

This comes a little late, but been quite busy.

Like Zapf, on behalf of the family I would like to thank all those who attended. They were really touched, and we all know that Dan would have really have loved every minute of it (the sidecar would have been a real highlight for him).

I also want to thank all those who assisted with "Traffic Management". You know who you are, and it is with your help, that the convoy arrived safely in one impressive line.

First I would like to thank all who atteneded and also those who sent mesages,

Kat Melanie and I will post a proper thankyou shortly,
but as yet we are still not in a fit state to handle every thing,

if it had not been for Dans close friends on KB I am not sure if we would have made it though till now.

No need to rush a thankyou post.... For now, concentrate on you and your family.. At the moment it is what is more important... If any of you need anything don't ever hesitate to ask... You have a whole lot of support right here on kb.. And people are happy to help in what ever way possible..

Incredible to be a part of such an :bye: day.
Thankyou John, Kate and Melanie for letting us be a part of it.

The Hearse turning up at the start bought it all into stark reality for me.

The ride afterwards was fantastic, it seemed to go on forever, part of me didn't want it to stop.

Then finishing off with the merc getting surrounded by these huge guys in leathers riding vespa's.
A shame that bike died right in front of him wasn't it, I hope you got it going again.

You are all in our thoughts.

Raster and fambly.

I thought the Magneto guys were great also when I heard how they not only intimadated the merc but also the Lorry driver they brought to a halt,

Not sure if it was Rudi or Sarge who had the bike die on them, I know Sarge had to get a battery charge before he could get home as his charging system failed :dodge::angry::bash::sweatdropand Rudi's clutch rod melted on his Hardly Ableson:yes:
