Dyno day

Anyone interested in a thrash on the dyno http://pages.quicksilver.net.nz/geoffm/dyno/dyno.htm over Christmas or start of next year? I won't be back in town until mid-november, and I need to sort some stuff out on it and tweak the calibration as well, and get a power supply, then finish getting the RG running ...
Assuming I can get the thing to run properly over Christmas, and I don't have any more of the endless hardware problems, anyone keen for a BBQ and thrash in the new year?
Usual caveats - all care (and not much of that), no responsibility and if your bike blows up, we promise not to laugh to hard... It is reading low at present - have to do some more measurements and calibration calculations

Yeah I'm keen (will even bring some meat for the BBQ!!!). I'm more interested in the power curve than the peak numbers - can you graph that??

err, out? I'd love to have my bike dyno'd, but like you say, I've heard of them exploding (destroying whole city blocks), and the fall out (my weeping) would leave the area inhospitable for months... My insurance company wouldn't appreciate another call, not to mention IF they would even pay.

Out of interest, how many bikes actually do fail? And I'm assuming that even if they don't, they have excess mechanical wear on them afterwards?
Or is it a case of if it's done properly, then there's no wear n tear?

I'm sure Geoff would know better,cause he built the thing ,but an inertia dyno will just be a run up to max rpm in one or several gears - a brake dyno will load the motor under full throttle to set rpms,these are tough on a motor...but if your motors not up to it,why are you putting it on a dyno? I remember watching one of my cars on a dyno as we cranked the speed down on full load,bubbles and oil were coming out of the headgasket join,all quite normal,but you don't usualy look under the bonnet under those loads.

Never had a bike die on the dyno, and my poor Impulse and LC have had lots of runs while bug fixing. A run is typically 10 seconds long or so - as long as it takes to pull through to redline in 4th gear. You often don't even need a fan for a single run.
Your insurance company won't pay if it explodes (even on a commercial unit), and I will try and think up a bulletproof liability disclaimer. I don't do this for a living (currently a student) so have no insurance, so anyone who wants to hold me liable can take a hike right now...

Can do that - the software is the datamite from www.PerformanceTrends.com. Can also export the data as a text file to play with in a spreadsheet as well.
I have had it for a while, but haven't had time to do anything with it, due to endless hardware and bike problems, building a house and then being away for the last year. It has been sitting in the shed collecting dust for a year since it was last used, and I still have some bugs to sort out,and i have some doubts about the computer (it was free...)

I'm interested. The Graves pipe is coming off and a scorpion going on, but Power Commander don't appear to have a scorpion map for the gixxer 750, so I will have to fiddle around with the injection maps a bit - the dyno would be supremo useful for that...
