hey guys

first up a big hello to all u KB's! im new to this and just thought id make a shoutout lol

anyway i need a lil help. the temp gauge on my cbr400 dosent work and i was wondering what would be the best way to get it fixed. ive been reading up a lot on KB to find someone that had a similar problem and some ppl recommend looking to see if the wires come of the temp probe thingy. problem is i have no idea where that is :S lol its a 1994 so the 'R' model. does anyone know? and if thats fine what should i do next?

any help is greatly appreciated. im a newbie so bear with my stupid questions haha

thanks!

To rectify the problem, you must get a Suzuki. Sorted. Everyone knows that Hondas have good engines, but as for the electrics ??? :devil2:
Have a search - I recall seeing a thread about this before....first you need to make sure that the gauge is not faulty, by running a current through it. Answer as to how is somewhere in here.
And welcome along to the Funhouse.

You could also search for a CBR400 manual. Would be very handy to have one.

Search is def your friend. I am sure there is a thread that gives the link to a website that you can download from.

Welcome to KB mate!

Chances are most likely that the temp sensor is on the front side of the radiator. Failing that if there is a remote thermostat housing it could be on that.

There will be two brass threaded plugs with wires coming out of them. One will be larger & is the fan temp switch. The other is the temp gauge sensor, otherwise known as a thermistor, basically a resistor that decreases in resistance when heated. The other threads should tell you what to do, but shortccting to ground (sometimes a separate ground) with ign switch on should send the temp gauge skyrocketing.

Maybe just a bad connection to the sender.
