An Auckland Xmas bash consisting of...a BBQ and party in sunny Mt Maunganui???
Maybe we should shelve that idea for New Year's? Any of our fellow BOP KB'ers got plenty of tentspace and bikespace somewhere near Marine Parade?

Frosty and I have spoken about it, we have got quite a few options. We not sure how many would want to come and if it should be a full blown piss up? Or if we going for a more family orientated type barbie. So maybe a good start would be to find out how many people want to bring children etc... maybe we do the day barbie and stretch it into the night... let us know! :Punk:

Find a paddock somewhere pref close to a beach, turn up with tents caravans or whatever, bring family kids, have a few people bring BBQ's guitars, light a big Fire sit around and have a laugh a few drinks and its all family freindly, shit with good planning it could be a few day event or one night. Cool idea but dya think its good for a christmas party ?
Now if yaa'll wanna party down for a couple of days well then we're talkin summat else.
Theres this place I know. Its 50 acres of private land. All forested.
There are a couple of good sized clearings for camping in. Its close to a beach. The ride there is down 20km of windy road with a short section of dirt road to the site. Theres a pub 5 minutes ride away.
It doesn't have running water for drinking but bore water for porta showers.
for a possible ride weekend itd be cool
Ohh and best of all --it wouldn't cost to use it

Absolutely. Roads in the Gizzy district seem to feel a little corrugated compared to other parts of the Bay, but round the coast has everything. I gotta do again - maybe November when I am back down in the Bay.

it is a fair haul for anyone who doesn't live here already which is the biggest downside, it's 10 minutes after the tolaga bay township, weather isn't always guaranteed either, but the place rocks at new year, the paddock has water and also portaloos provided by the gis city council, but ppl are expected to take their own loo, and there are also rubbish skips as well. 10 minute gravel road to the site, off the main road, the paddock is on a first come first served basis, and if it's full up theres not a lot you can do about it, fills up around new year, usually can get in just before xmas day no problems, can take around 40 tents etc
Posh Tourer :P

It is a quieter place than orewa or the parakai pools propper
Date--December 4th --thats a saturday. Time--from 4pm for family types with kids till 10pm ish
Of course the ride there could be Via old north road so itll be a great way to wind down after the ride.
They are licenced so booze is available.
They have barbbque facilities if we wanna fire up a few sauzzies
They also do bloody nice takeaways for the people who don't wanna cook.
Heaps of parking in the carpark.
I just think it'll be good for everyone--=family types with kids as well as the serious boozers. --Ohh and if ya wanna pitch a tent theres camping facilities .

are you thinking of a one night bash, or a family friendly 2+ days?, we are somewhat disadvantaged being so far from anywhere that one night is sort of beyond us really, especially with the kids, maybe it would be a good idea for the unencumbered to get together for their bash in a seperate event to the family groups that fancy a few days with sun, sand, surf and so on. Party at the hot pools . Specificly palm Springs in Parakai.
Yep, sounds good
Me and 't missus are in.
And I can top up the blood/bourbon levels at Black Pete's if needed.
Would like to camp as well.

So come on lets here it Ya freckin keen or what, where is frosty?? what ya think fella?
Its only an hour south of hammy freckin huge lake me mates will be there with two ski boats as well, its a donation of $5.00 a night I think, very relaxed atmosphere.
Only thing is you need to bring everything with you no shops close by.
Biking roads close by, the Waikato rally roads are all around here as well as a heap more.
Thinking from the 3rd January ish for a few nights from there.
Good thing also. not to far from Gisbourne not to far from welly and not to far from Auckers.
Give me some feedback people

sounds like a great idea quasie
Only trouble is I sorta had in mind to make it an Auckland based party for the xmas bash.
The problem as I see it is that although for a lot of KBers it really aint very far For quite a few-especially those with family its a heck of a long way to drag the whole whanau.
I sorta figured to try to apeal to as big a range of KBers as possible.
But hey Its not about me its about what apeals to the majority of Auck/nthland/waikato KBers.
Madduck offered her place and i'd happily use my humble hovel. Then theres the beach party or hot pools.
My thinking re hot pools is its got all the facilities and can with a bit of aranging be at the end of a nice ride.

Ok so hows about this plan.....
1) Quasi starts a new thread about Atiamuri in Jan. (gets that south-of-the-bobmays (sic) mythical land out of this discussion)
2) The Akl KB bash goes like this:
a) Everyone gets together at the BRONZ Toy Run and donates a toy or two...
b) At the end of the Toy Run, we regather, and head out to Palm Springs via a
few cool little roads and perhaps via South Head.
c) Party at Palm Springs till about 10 (or later)
d) Set up camp at the camping facilities mentioned and party till later
e) Sleep, wake up, regret partying, and then ride back to somewhere via some
more cool roads such as Old North Rd....
This would entail some costs of buying food to BBQ (collectively), Entry to the pools, camping, and the requisite donation to SpankMe, and to any support vehicles if ya want to go that far.
Sound good? If we camp I reckon we need a big central tent to hang out in too... I may be able to borrow one :D but it wouldnt fit on the bike....

Cannot see why we can't do both (which seems to be the plan) as one is in Dec and the other in Jan. Parakai on the 4th of Dec is not just for "the young and speedy". If all goes to plan there should be sometime for all encluding families. Please give Frosty your support (we need more than one person arould here that is willing to organise things). We do not have to choose between Atiamuri or Parakai as we can do both.
Come on Guys and Girls we need to support those who are willing to organise. I've seen too many clubs go down the drain by winers not supporting the doers. I for one am keen to help Frosty (like wise, I hope to be able to get to Atiamuri as well).
Good on your guys you both awesome. Keep up the good work:first:
