No Mark, you just have a bad attitude... I also did the nice court appointment, and I'm learning from it... doesn't sound exactly like you're even trying to get any valuable life experience. From where I'm standing (in the non-driving state, which means I'm standing fairly close to you...), I can see how people that don't break the law (or are just fortunate enough to not get caught) are privileged people, because they have valid licenses... I dunno... it seems that no matter how well law-breaking or the lack thereof and the consequences etc are explained to you, you just don't seem to listen...

Why did I write so much to someone who isn't gonna read it?

I don't hate him. If I did I'd tell him to go faster or invite him on rides and tip off the cops I know! I've met him and like him from the short time we talked and he seems like lots of young dudes I know. Just needs to take his medicine and quit being a little bitch about it and slow down where needed to save himself some strife.

I like how Mark is always trying to help people out with mechanical stuff and seems to be on the money with stuff and I know he's had some mechanical experiance but not heaps (as I understand it). I'd rather he chills out into a mechanic who loves riding and lives a reasonably long life. How can you get busted that much and not be a hoon all the time? Shit, there's not that many cops and your not just riding along if they think your worth stopping.

I was followed going past a school by an undercover cop.
He flashed his lights, put on his undercover siren so I pulled over.
(I mean what else could I do, he obviously had noted my plates).

I waited for the guy, but he motioned for me to leave the bike and come over to his vehicle. He was OK though in the end, once i'd given him all the money I had on me. The Bastard!

I saw him later by the beach, just waiting for speeders and snapped the Bastard! Obviously it's one law for them and one law for us!!!

Its most likely to continue with the road you insist on travelling. If you don't like it, now might be a good time to review your life thus far. Because if you continue failing to learn from your mistakes and continue to make up weak excuses, how can it change?

I must say I don't care too much about whatever has happened with regards to Mark and the law... But it seems that most people think that he's got what was coming to him - so just be happy that "justice" is served.

However, I can not help being a bit concerned about all this police sneakiness in order to slam speeders. When the law starts putting an emphasis on shitpoor drivers, fuckwits and retards then I might be able to accept the amount of focus speeding is getting these days. My gripe is that more and more we're not allowed to think for ourselves - there are empty, straight, flat roads out in Canterbury where you could do 500 km/h without it being dangerous (might wanna check for potholes in advance though)...

E.g. I'm happy I live on the South Island - yesterday I drove from Takaka to Christchurch (480 km) in 5 hours and 20 minutes in my cage. That's an average speed of 90 km/h - and we had a couple of breaks as well. I sat solidly at 130 km/h most of the way and truth be told that was at NO time dangerous or irresposible since there was fuck all traffic and I don't do reckless overtakes. I don't think I managed to pick up more than a couple of bleeps of the Beltronics STI XR during the whole trip and I didn't see any coppers either. Good thing, because I would have been mightily pissed off about getting a ticket for that.

Let me clarify that I do not condone speeding and doing stupid stuff, showing off or any kind of wankerish behaviour! However, when the law punish you for thinking for yourself and evaluating your current situation I stop agreeing. If they start to get sneaky about it and use underhand approaches like the criminals they're supposed to be apprehending then it get's my knickers in twist!

Time to go back to the lab and work on the Ka band jammer!

Who says they are just out to slam speeders??????????? Maybe, just maybe.... they are out there to hammer "Shitpoor drivers, fuckwits and retards.."

You would think there are no other tickets issued for anything other than speed, ever.... Shit drivers get tickets all the time but they shut up and get on with it... speeders are another thing. They seem to think they are exempt somehow....

True - you are most likely correct about that... or so I shall assume. Because, yes I have rarely (not ever) heard about anyone getting pulled over and ticketed for anything but speeding, dangerous/careless and drink driving.
After all, noone would ever complain about getting ticketed for being deemed incompetent.

Oh, who am I kidding. As long as I'm to understand that the penalty for running the red lights is $250 and NO demerit points I think I'll stand by my statement that there's a emphasis on speeding compared to other traffic "violations".

So while I do believe that you may have a valid point about people whining about their speeding tickets (and I do agree that people should STFU and get on with it) - I'm still not convinced that Mr. Plod does active routine policing of most other offenses.
Speeding is convenient - you get a number out of your black box and compare it to a table and you can decouple your brain and run it on automatic. Issuing a ticket for not driving as far left as possible, not indicating for 3 seconds before turning, etc. is a much harder call and you can't sit on the road side, on a straight, empty and flat road waiting for your offender to come to you.

I very much doubt you got cameras in each and every intersection in NZ!
As such that's another lame argument for not doing any other traffic policing than speeding enforcement. "Or red lights... check, we got those covered. Bought five cameras last week."

Nope, quite right there, not one in every intersection. One for our city is all, and we can set it up wherever. Dunno about the other towns, for them to sort out. There isn't a cop on each and every street either.....

I've met that fella... sneaky bastard in a rather new fancy looking black commodore... He came up over a hill while I was going from Murchison towards Chch in the car. He pinged me I thought FUCK it's a mufty, hit the brakes, thought "nah, too damn late", kept my speed up - I think I saw some blue and red reflections somewhere  as I went over the hill crest. Kept my speed up and never saw him again. But then again, he could've been called off towards Murchison in a hurry ;)

Watch this space... police are moving to the P25 encrypted radio standard. But, depending on how they set it up, it may be "internet aware". So if it is, we will be able to "ping" it... so it may be that we will be able to spot a traffic car long before they can even radar you...

Even it doesnt get an IP stack, its a pretty rare way to send radio trafiic in NZ and will be easily spotted.

Well done NZ police !

I very much doubt you got cameras in each and every intersection in NZ!
As such that's another lame argument for not doing any other traffic policing than speeding enforcement. "Or red lights... check, we got those covered. Bought five cameras last week."

My mate who's a cop said no demerits... he could be wrong but what would I know.

Nope, quite right there, not one in every intersection. One for our city is all, and we can set it up wherever. Dunno about the other towns, for them to sort out. There isn't a cop on each and every street either.....

Your mate, who is a cop, is wrong....

Oops... my bad.... your mate is right! There are no demerits for going through red lights!!! Demerits for failing to stop at stop signs, failing to give way, failing to stop at red flashing lights at a railway... they all carry demerits, but not at red lights!!! Go figure....

Ive heard of a similar :sweatdrop"experience" lately near Murch. We got 'em using station wagons round here as well . Getting like you got to think that every on coming late model car could be out to get ya!! The days of going for a "blat" down the Gorge (or anywhere else really) might be coming to an end for me & Im going to try & slow down....save the money in fines & try & get to the track .
Hope all the bikers who've been headin' Nth to the Nelson rally have been able to avoid the ravening pack of them round here...
