The Haynes Book of Lies calls it a "throttle piston", the Kawasaki parts catalogue calls it a "VALVE, VACUUM" and Motorad in Wellington call it "$290 please, sir."

The diaphragm's got a 3mm tear in it, the result of cack-handed installation by previous mechanic unknown. I think this accounts for the strange idle problems I've been having, where the engine idles very low for a few seconds, hunts for a second or so and then settles very high, all this with the tickover adjust screwed all the way out.

I'm going to give the breakers I know of a scout, see if anyone's got all or part of a serviceable set of carburetors to sell, but if anyone here has same, please do let me know.

Cheers,

Chris.

That's a drag, have heard of people repairing them with supergluin a patch of nitrile rubber glove but who knows if that would last. Suspect not but if it is buggered could hold you over until you found replacement.
