Just got back from a very relaxing long weekend in Lake Tarawera. On Saturday morning, we went to Rotorua for some supplies and took the dog. We were sitting at a cafe with the dog and a meter maid came up to us and told us that dogs are prohibited from the city. What? Apparently the gangs used to bring their mongrels (no, not their wives, the K9 variety) to the city and shit all over the place and let their dogs lose on rival gang dogs... so Council banned dogs.

What's wrong with this picture? Wouldn't it be a better idea to ban gangs from the city? I bet the Mayor is a real PC pussy and I will be writing to him to tell him what I think of his cultural shithole.

That Dog is getting you into trouble lately Finn....

Only because I'm not a conformist and my dog is part of the family. There are just too many laws and by-laws in this country. It makes me sick.

I've been down there twice - once as a tourist and once on a stag do. I've subsequently banned myself from ever returning.

The inventor of the term "Rotovegas" (in1995). Now, unfortunately, copied by many small towns.
'Vegas. Bright lights, casino, 24hr a day fun for those who search for it...
"Goin' off, like a frog in a sock", as the saying goes.

Why do other small towns denigrate themselves by pretending to be "Vegas" when their only bright lights are probably the traffic lights, if they actually have any...

Plenty of bright flashing lights in rotovegas. unfortunately they all belong to the cop cars on their way to bust a p lab or break up a fight over a crate of lion red.

The lady (meter maid) was actually very nice and didn't push the issue. I am sending an email to Kevin Winters, Mayor of Rotorua asking when he had his spine removed.
