I need to get some makeshift heroblobs (bolts) and I'm told this is the place to go for nuts and bolts - perhaps I've spelled it incorrectly but I can't find this place in the phone book, anyone know where it is?

They're right at the top end of Tory Street by Basin Reserve.

It's a goldmine is what it is. Having spent months (in Central Otago, admittedly) looking for something as simple as copper grease, walking into Schrodoco was a revelation. I got my wheel bearings there, and some greases, and a couple of different threadlocks.

I was slightly confused when I got there, though, because IIRC it doesn't say Schrodoco outside. It has various splash that obviously makes it somewhere to by automotive tools and parts, but according to the business card I picked up on the counter, they call themselves "Tony's Auto Centre".

Nah, it has a big ShroDoCo sign on top of the building.

Seriously? Then I'm obviously as blind as I am handsome.

;)

I didn't spot any such signage, nothing that indicated a name, only various products and brands. But that would explain the guy at the counter's confusion when I asked "is this Schrodoco?"

Lol. It's why I'm so successful at covert Jungle warfare. No one looks up.

Agree Schrodoco is a good shop, I have got a lot of nuts & bolts etc off them over the years. Depending on what you want another good local place you can try is Coastal Fasteners, 38 Abel Smith St - most of their stuff is behind the counter, unlike Schrodoco where you can wander around and pick what you want. But Coastal are very knowledgable and biker friendly (a biker works there).

Hmm, perhaps coastal would be easier I can just tell them what I want instead of spending hours looking.

Ended up going to Coastal Fasteners and spoke to the biker, nice guy - I'll definitely be going back there next time I'm in the market for fastenings.

Ahhh, it doesn't at the moment. They're redoing it. Currently plain green with signs in every window.

Your element of surprise is gone...

Still, you have to be mastermind to get the right bit there unless you go there with a plan.
