View Full Version : Movember 2007 approaches...

Once again the month formally known as November is almost upon us.

Always wanted to grow a moustache?

Inspired by the suave, sophisticated looks of Billy Connolly, Borat, Mark Sainsbury, Jaime from MythBusters or the American Chopper Pauls?

Well, now's the time to mo for it, and have a bit of fun and light competition along the way - all in the name of Men's' Health awareness!

Registrations are now being taken for Movember. If you wish to participate, or want some further reading before committing to such an adventure, then go to http://www.movember.com/nz/home/

If one were, by chance, to already have a mo, would one be required to delete said prior to entry in the competition?

At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants known as Mo Bros then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache and along the way raise as much money and awareness about male health issues as possible.

this is from the site. Seems you need a clean face at the start of Movember so I'm out.

There's nothing quite as passionate
As a kiss with a moustache in it.

Storm, mate that is a Doozy.

I am yet to get spousal aproval, but that may have to be retrospective.

Just did a quick web search and found that 2600 ish guys in NZ are diagnosed with Prostate cancer each year - similar number to Breast cancer (in women) and about 600 die from it each year. Where is the Government funded ad campaign and screning program?

Update;
I see in the paper the other day that it's an official competition run by a local pub.
The contestants let their right armpit hair grow for the month.

Sorry I just couldn't do that - I personally hate hairy armpits and legs - on me!

I met up with a friend yesterday - he's entered - he said he does it every year and looks awful but is for a good cause. Will be interesting to see progress. We said to one of the bosses here would he grow a mow his reply was na he was going to shave his pubes - go for a brazilian - I'd go along and hear him scream!! lol

I had no intention of doing it myself, I just wanted to get a reaction from the people I worked with (they were all very proper).

Most of the guys in this office are doing it (inc me) - however we just noticed 'the rules' that goatees are indeed not allowed - Moustaches only, although you are allowed to leave a small tickler for the ladies.

And your decision was to grow a mo or no?

Maybe we should start a poll to see how many KB'ers are doing the hair growth thing for Movember? Could get relatively creative on the poll options given the ladies desire to be involved.

It's interesting that only a handful of mostaches grown in Movember are actually being sponsored.

So oppressed are modern menfolk by the dead hand of censure and rebuke from overly opinionated women, that Movember is the only opportunity many have to worm their way from beneath the Thumb of Dominance and express their manliness, albeit briefly, fleetingly and cowtowingly.

Women's opinions on men's grooming and appearance have become overinflated and cast a dark pall on what it means to be a man. I blame the Labour Government, and men with soft cocks.

TonyB
29th November 2007, 12:10
Funnily enough, I once grew a beard just to piss MrsB off! Strangley though, she found it raaaather nice and changed her opinion. My daughter cried and shouted "I don't like you any more daddy!!" when I shaved it off over a year later.

So I'm bucking the trend by having one all year round then? Excellent, I knew there was a reason why my wife is always suggesting I shave- its the dreaded thumb of dominance! Lucky I fear not the thumb

I'm afraid that general busyness and lack of round tuits prevented me from arranging a sponsored grow this year.

But, yes. When it comes to my chosen style of beard and/or moustache, any woman who wants it gone can shave it from my cold, dead face.
