We've had a bit of a project underway to prepare the Gixxer's race fairings and make them look decent.
We scored these from Nicko a couple of years ago and they were cracked and just didn't look the business. No one recognised us when we went to the track because the fairings were blue and everyone's so used to seeing yellow and black leathers on a yellow and black bike.
Anyway, I decided to get 'em fixed so sent them off to Billy (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=11222) at AutoCycleRefinishers (phone 07-574-6747) to be fixed. He's done a bloody awesome job fixing them up. He had to repair a few holes etc, and he put lugs on the tailpiece so I could bolt it to the bike (these didn't exist beforehand). Billy also did the paint job and he's got the colour match really close. I told him it didn't have to be perfect because they're only race fairings, I just wanted them to look similar to the tank. We're absolutely stoked with the work Billy's put into them - they look a million bucks.
We got the fairings back last week and only put them on the bike last night. KB's hedgier1 (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=8115) (PSYCOTIK Signs and TShirts) was kind enough to supply us with the goods to make the decals, which we traced and cut out, and then he came and fitted them tonight. This bike looks wicked now and Mike is a freakin' legend! :2thumbsup God that guy makes it look easy... We had a whole bunch of stickers floating around so most of them went on the fairings. At first the nosecone didn't have anything on it and it just looked bland. Mike soon sorted that and now we've got racing stripes :devil2:
Here's the before and after pics.
