That was posted up here on KB about a year ago -- amazing clip then, and now I've had the opportunity to ride some `big' bikes, it's even more amazing.

Our NZ cops can punt those big Hondas and Bimmers around quite nicely as well.

meh... rope-learning. Most of us could do that if we practised the same course over'n'over'n'over like they do. Having control is good and all, but being able to ride the test-track like a robot is not so useful in real police work - a sharp u-turn a few times a day is all that's really necessary.

I'd rather my tax yen were being used to get real human-beings on the force, who can handle a wide range of real-world situations instead of focusing on some circle-jerk skills test. There is another video on youtube somewhere of an American bike-cop test which illustrates the stark difference in style there. In the American test they do have some very limited 'skills' tests but they are about real-life situations - riding on gravel or through mud (no cone-slaloms in real life right?). But they have more focus on dealing with people, which is what the job is all about and what makes for a wide variety of unpredictable situations. I liked one part where the cop is practising a traffic stop and they purposely make it so he has no idea what to expect - just like real life. In one run, four dudes jump out of the car and start shooting at him heheh.

There are plenty of countries with cops that I wouldn't want to 'mess with' but Japan doesn't really rate. sheesh the japanese mcp don't even ride when it's raining, or at night.

Can you tell this is one of my pet-peeves..?

Amazing how many people with high speed track skills can't do it at low speed.

Not saying you're one, but low speed handling is not the same as track.
There are many ways to control a bike - just watch those moto-X guys.

Errr no they can't, they take expeditions out from the pig farm (police training college) over the tukas quite often. From what I have seen most of them should still have a yellow "L" on the back of the bike, and worse the instructors have little in the way of an idea either! Quite fortunate really :devil2:

I have been told that they go from never riding a bike to full blown m/c cop in just a few weeks......

Pretty impressive. That vid must be years old though- those are the original VFR750 86 or 87ish. Pretty good skills considering the streetbike weighed about 225kg dry, before they added all the police gear to them

would make good sport, setup in a carpark race the clock see who could do it in the fastest time, good thing about it is you don't need a specialist type bike, you could do it on a scooter. I posted up I similar sort of clip about a year ago.
seem its a sport in Japan.http://fratguyantics.com/content/index.php?id=1991
