Since I put 4000kms on the crap dunlop D221’s on the ER6, they had been badly worn, especially the front, which was bald on the edges.
So..what to get?
I narrowed it down to 4 tires
Bridgestone 021’s
Pirelli Diablo’s
Continental road attacks
Metzler Z6’s

I chose the Z’s, because of where I envision them to sit on the market, and what I had heard about them

Scrubbing in.

20kms of scrubbing in was about enough I though.
These tires are a little more noisy than the 221’s, but offer incredible stability when encountering mid corner bumps, also the 6 feels more planted on the road, its also feels firmer exiting corners when cranked and under full throttle.
Also the 6 tips in much easier, and with less effort.
So far, so good.

well, the bike can do stoppies now!
the tires are stable to 190 kph...(tested)
the bike is so much easier to handle in 35kph corners and hairpins
these tires rule

By a professional tester, of course.
On a private road, under expert supervision.
With emergency medical personnel and SafetyNazis in attendance.

Run them on my ZX 12 R & love them...

You'll get an impressive amount of mileage out of a set on the ER 6...

Cheers

Z6's are a good tyre. You'll get the same performance and handling out of Michelin Pilot Roads with the added bonus of even more K's with out sacrificing any dry or wet weather performance.

these tires now have 9000kms on them
i can slide the bike under power while cranked now, but not heaps
the tread is chipping to half way down the tire.
they are now shit in the wet, i can slide the bike around with ease, the front also lets go now, but its a smooth letting go, not violent.
the front is still ok, but i think something some diablo's will be in order for the winter.
i might finish the Z6's off on the track this month
