View Full Version : Wellington: Wellington Karaoke Night?

StoneChucker
19th October 2004, 21:53
Well, I'd heard talk of the possibility of all us Wellingtonians (and surrounds) going to make fools of ourselves, at a Karaoke bar.

I've asked around, and it seems "K Bar" somewhere in Wgtn CBD is a rather good place? I remember CSL saying one was pretty seedy, hope it wasn't that one. So, how many of you would be up for it?

Dave

May clouds of midges follow you for the rest of the year, for suggesting such a barbaric practice.

Get thee hence!!

Go on, bugger off

Will there be beer?

StoneChucker

Will there be beer?
Oh god I hope so, the whole idea scares the crap out of me. I think I'd need some Dutch courage, and someone to push me up... Oh, and the majority of the people there to participate aswell.

I don't care where
As long as there's beer!
Anywhere's fine
But bring on the wine!

StoneChucker

Looks like you've already started singing there Hitcher :niceone:

Ummmmmm - yes that was the place. Just hang onto your handbags ladies & no-one needs to worry about even putting their teeth in, please make sure you wear your best sweat shirt though or your white pants & balck g-string. :spudbooge

Make it so!

Hmmmm. I'm not a karaoke fan I have to say. I'd pop in for a drink and a chat but I'd run off if anyone tried to get me up the front.

Aways wanted to try karaoke.
But timing and Cashflow would dictate if I could be there. :(
If someone was to organised one in Hamilton, or Tauranga, that would be easier for me to attend. :spudbooge

I'll be in for a drinking session, but buggered if I'd sing. Bec is real keen on that, but the problem is the music they play is just painful.

How about just a session at the Southern Cross (or whatever it is called these days, oh yeah, Zebos) garden bar in nice weather.

:drinknsin :drinknsin :drinknsin

forget the singing though.

The music that they play may be painful but the videos that go with them are absolutely hilarious!!! Really really badly made "video-overs".

Speaking as a regular winner of drunken PS2 SingStar competitions, I can say that, were I in Wellytown, I'd happily turn up and participate.

I'd be on my own, though; Sarah has made a vow never to accompany me to a karaoke bar, ever again.

In any case, I'm up here, not down there, so I'll just have to be with you in spirit.

I'm not sure I like the sound of this, I work at Southern Cross :eek5:

The Southern Cross is a pub on Abel Smith Street. The back bar is called Zebo's and has a fantastic beer garden.

Unfortunately there is no karaoke :sneaky2:

I didn't think it had karaoke...Awesome place for up and coming nz bands tho...some of me mates play there regularly...all types of music too.

Very cool place :)
Cheap alcohol most nights too, if I remember correctly :)

My thoughts exactly, nothing like karaoke to clutter up a quiet afternoon at the pub

StoneChucker

My poll wasn't "who wants to go drink beer" :msn-wink:
Ok, so I'm guessing we should organise a night out at Southern Cross/Zebos sometime, or maybe after work drinks?

But I think a Karaoke night, like the poll/topic suggests, might be fun. It's all about over coming fears  Then it's just skydiving, and, err, a few other things we won't go into just now.

All in good time though, preferably after i get my wheels back.
Dave.

I'm reviving this thread - partly b/c I'm at work and bored and also b/c I think Kareoke would be a laugh! Those who don't wanna sing could just come along and laugh at those of us who do.

The snag is I'm going away and won't be back until 14th Feb (I expect dozens of roses to be awaiting me at the Ferry Terminal btw).

I was talking to a certain persons partner on the weekend and she was very keen to have a night out doing Kareoke.

C'mon team - it would be a hoot!

Safe! No way! We wanna inflict ourselves on several people! Sounds like we have a lot of keen people here and if ya don't wanna do Kareoke ya don't have to.

How about when I get back from my trip we set a date and a pub to meet at and then from there (when we are all sufficently liquored) we can go to a Kareoke Bar!

So how about the weekend of the 18th/19th Feb or 25th/26th?

There is 1 place I'll never go to again in the Willis St village, just really poor service and very dodgy loos. But I had heard there was somewhere else in town.

talking about dodgy loos....
you should have seen one of the one's that i had to use in Mexico....
the walls were painted green and red......
looked like some one had thrown up every where. then slit his/her wrists, and sprayed the walls...... i didn't sit down in that one.....
but they did have 3 beers for the price of one......... :devil2:

Ok so is there enough interest to go ahead (remember the idea is drinks then Kareoke)?

Is the 25th of Feb too soon or is a later date better, say the 15th March?
