So wises has crapped out on me and lots of the maps I've found don't have many area's out of the centers loaded. Whats some names or links to online maps for browsing at new routes of finding the longest, wiggliest way from A to B via s or R or something? Maybe post the link and what area's or features are best on that map. Awesome, post away!

Google Maps. The "directions" facility is awesome. I haven't found anything better.

+1 Google Maps. Has great coverage of NZ not just the cities.

Yep, got Googlemaps on my PDA, works luverly, even with NZs shitty mobile broadband, and even when using the satellite mode... shame the mobile edition doesn't have hybrid yet.

Cool, Googlemaps looks like a winner, just having a play now. Have tried Smaps (http://www.smaps.co.nz) ,MapQuest (http://www.mapquest.com) and NZ Maps (http://www.nzmaps.co.nz) so far but the out of town resolution is crap or maps aren't there, big files for dial-up etc.

And yet another is zoomin (http://www.zoomin.co.nz), not bad for coverage outside of the cities.

Google maps is great....but ya gotta love GOOGLE EARTH....I know I do....its a 3d sim of the earth in case ya aint figured it out....Type a street and town in the search box and it will do the rest...I love the "tilt" function so you can get a look at the Geography in rendered 3d...like a fly-over...Try looking at for example the Hoover dam in that mode...it is awesome!
