Well, after much wailing, screaming and gnashing of teeth, the wifey thing has relented (my tantrums worked!) and I today picked up my new ride!
Behold!
The '88 Intruder VS700 that has usurped Rosey the two-fiddy. and after next weekend will be carting my carcass to and fro!
Purchased via Tardme, and funnily enough a KBer (Markl - top bloke with a SHINY M50!) for a very good price. (Though certain domestic controller will make mileage of this for many moons to come...)
It's low, it's heavy and it's BLARDY noisy - no wonder I feel so comfortable, hard not to with so many similarities shared between the two of us...
Bike was ridden back by the esteemed Blue Thunder of C90 Boulevard fame, what with me being a paranoid nana and no full licence yet, though he did park it the wrong way round in my drive, so naturally I had to put my gears on and run it round the bloke once or twice to make sure it was lined up for the gargre...
Anyway, here are some pics - I'm off to the garage for a beer and a drool...

Will the REAL owner in the pics lend it to you to ride though? :D

Well negotiated. I don't think half the people on here really know the extent of your skills. With two young offspring and a dishwasher in tow, you take negotiation to a - whole - naaarva - level. :not:
What did you do with the little rosey coloured Soursaki.

What did you do with the little rosey coloured Soursaki.
She's quivering in the gargre, awaiting next Sunday when she will be used to purloin a licence of fullness from the VTNZ, then she will be un-ceremoniously thrown to the masses for sale, to be loved and tended to by someone other than me.
Cos I have a new toy.
And it's better.
YAY!

Hahaha very nice mate. You've wanted a cruiser since the get-go, haven't you?
It's the chrome that gets you going.
No wonder it's loud, it hasn't got any frigging silencers. Look forward to seeing it in the flesh. Wire spoke wheels, yay! Now we can share tips on how to clean them.
Take care on it, I'm sure it won't bite you though, even a 1300cc Yammie cruiser I rode was as docile as a GN250, and you're a sensible rider. Enjoy scaring little children by blipping the throttle :devil2:

Ya, the beer holder has just never been comfy pressed against a sprotsbike tank, so now I can let it flubber round freely, all the while scaring small children, animals and the elderly with the bikes quaint ear drum popping soundwaves :devil2:

Well done Donor!
I'm sure you are gonna enjoy the thrill of having more than the mighty 250 throbbing between your legs:niceone: bet the missus will enjoy that to, given the look on her face yesterday when she mounted your new toy!!!!!:bleh:
Now you to can derive the endless pleasure of keeping all the shiny bits shiny, its a great reason to keep you out of the house and content in the Man Cave:2thumbsup, where the smell of oil and machine is perfume to the nose and sure as hell beats the cooking smells and toilet cleaner:msn-wink:
We all look forward to seeing you wobble oopps riding around the place very soon, well at least as soon as you stop polishing the paint off it!!!!
Dont forget those ribbon things we discussed:finger:

Well, I have discovered that the new beast doesn't like the rain...
The plug leads are not sealed going into the top of the cylinders, meaning rain and road wash from riding rather annoyingly leak in and kill the spark, thus causing intermittent running on one and sometimes no cylinders - very difficult to deal with at 0645 in the morn on the way home from the Auckland CBD to Papakura after a busy night shift...
So it's off to the man with the parts to seek out the bungs of joy I go this weekend - thus reducing me to fair weather rider status for a bit - ARSE!
(And more determined to buy a bloody rain suit too!)

Congrats on getting your full BTW. Hope to do the same (on a borrowed non-smashed bike) in a couple of weeks.

Good grief man - who initiated you into the Cruiser club??? Of COURSE the new bike doesn't like the rain, cruisers are SHINY. Shiny things like sunny days because then their shiny bits look REALLY shiny.
And as for the rain suit? Have you lost your yellow pants?

Funny mine doesn't mind the wet! As for 0645 hrs, thought I trained you harder than to moan about a wee bit of water and BUSY shift:laugh: I find that very hard to believe you probably spent the night on the couch:sleep:

Yes cruisers are shiny shiny things that love to sparkle in the sun and be admired, but some of us hard arses ride them every day:woohoo:
Just means we have to spend more time polishing and cleaning and staying in the happy place we call the garage away from the missus:laugh:

For some reason, frontline dispatchers seem to think that sliding Nana and Grandad from a hospital bed to a Ferno is a good idea - a phone call after the first 5 jobs sorted that out...
I think the longest on station was probably the 20 minutes I spent after day shift came on, and he and I sat out the back of the Pitt staring at the new toy!
Bloody night shifts...
Still, only 2 jobs since 1600 this eve, so not all bad - I think the bribe of chocolate to Leah may have worked

Bribing the dispatchers with chocolate only makes them FAT and then they will hate you for that and make you (not them) WORK YOUR BUTT OFF:bash:
