Damn that movie was lame... was nice to see again, since it was on my list of "movies I want to see again", but after all this time, I still think it was quite dumb, especially at the end of the dirt drags... less than 20 metres to come to a complete stop in :TUI: - YEAH RIGHT!!!

:corn: Huh. I hadn't seen it before - it had been on my list of movies to watch sometime - not any more. Only caught the last 45 mins or so - but that was enough.

Yep - 'drag' (I'm sure those nana's should have been in skirts - sorry ladies) racing a couple of litre+ bikes on a dirt road (while looking at each other!) - with no violent wheelspin or snakes - and having a 'T' intersection for the finish line put it on the 'don't waste the money at the video shop' list.

BTW - what's the fastest you've been on a roadbike - on a gravel (metalled) road?
...years ago near Danseys pass pub (on way to Brass Monkey) - on some loooong straights - got up to > 160k's on the GSX11... bum was so puckered up, it was like I was glued to the seat... ...and it kept trying to wheelspin and tankslap... Didn't do it again either.

Would ONLY ever try to do summat like that on South Island metal roads tho - much nicer than the crappy NI ones...
...and I wouldn't do it at all on the Duc - it has a particular aversion to metal - picks up the rocks (they stick to the tyres), then runs them through the underside of the CF guards... makes funny 'star' patterns.:weep:

I've done the inbetween Raglan and Hamilton gravel road down to Kawhia a couple times on the FZR400 (it's about 40ish km's of gravel and muddy dirt)... on the straightish stuff was hitting about 100 - 120kph (when the back wheel stopped spinning, until the next corner)... was tones of fun... my FZR would do 90kph in first gear, so until I got into a straight, I'd be in 1st, giving the road hell :) I'll admit, I'm no pro at gravel, as I know there are riders that are truly talented when it comes to the slippery rocky stuff, but... I loved every minute of it, and at the end of the day, that's what riding a bike is about :)

Not a gravel road, But I crossed a grassy paddock on a Harley with 22 inch apes doing about 140KM/h, Every time I even touched the breaks the wheel slid out from under me, so after about 3 tries I gave up and just hung on....

......until I hit a raised gravel road, which got me airborne, and when I landed it was just to ride straight into a ditch about 4 foot deep.

Muhahahahaha.

To get her out I had to ride her motocross style into the blunt end of the ditch, hit her like a sack of brick and bounce out onto the flat. It took a couple goes but I got her, Then I carried onto work, which I was late for, which was the reason I was speeding in the first place, Though I only went off the corner because the car I was rapidly catching up with drove into the center of the road and hit the brakes, forcing evasive action.
