Decision problems

I have a problem :( Im getting my full in February and im tied up between two bikes.

My first choice was my bro's 1992 CBR900 which he wants for $5500

its only got 20k on the clock and it rocks (atleast by my standards)

However today, i went to colemans to pick up some bearings for the ginny and... well... i saw an SV650, so i straddled the thing and good god, that thing rocks. Its the right size for me, nice and light and just... just... awesome!

But the problem is, to get one second hand its gonna cost atleast $5500... and i know that the cbr900 has more balls and goes faster and all but the sv just tickles my fancy for some strange reason...

Crap! Anyone got an oppinion on the matter?

Two very different bikes really.. I would suggest when you can going for a ride on both and whatever fits you then go for that one.. The CBR will have more punch but is seriously what you would make your decision on? Just get what is comfy and what you beleive suits you..

The blade is super serious. You better be on your game if you get that after a GN! The first model like that, in good nick, is sure to appreciate, especially in blue red n white.

Thats exactly what it is :) blue white and red, real decent condition. I've ridden it a couple times and i just couldn't get the smile of my face :D I guess i better go ride an SV650 aswell and see what happens...

First off they are two totally different bikes, and both will have there quirks good points and bad points. So you really need to take them for a ride to see if which one suits your riding style, comfort, and needs the best. What do you want the bike for, commuting, touring, racing...???

I personally think the SV would be a good step from the GN, it woun't be the fastest thing, but still giving you more power and low torque (than the GN). Can still be used for tour, and playing on the track...Being a V-Twin it will have its quirks, and the that rumbling sound.

The higher reving inline 4 CBR on the other hand is a huge step from a GN, and as imdying says you better be on your game.

My vote is with Nighthawk. Those SV650's have a reasonably good rep for general handling... And you can still trade up in another year or so...

I think you've answered your own question. Take the SV for a ride and if you still feel the same way about it, GET IT! Don't worry about what your brother might say, or what anybody else says.

If you find a bike that makes you feel good when you're riding it, looking at it, fiddling with it, or sitting on it in the garage making "vroom" noises, then that's the best bike for you.

The SC28 CBR900 are great bikes loads of power that will be fun. I just sold mine 2 months ago for $6500 :crybaby:. It will definitely be a big power jump from a GN and if you like it just buy it. Legendary bikes back then 185kg dry weight.

Not ridden a SV650 but my experience is once you have ridden a 900 or 1000 you will not wanna go back to anything below 1000cc. The power is just amazing. Good luck in making your decision
